  1. Didn't expect to see the best winter Olympics for since 1998, but it's been a thrill to see y'all do so well.
  2. now leads the all time medal table in freestyle skiing, overtaking . The US is now equal on golds, two silver medals ahead and one brone medal ahead. Curling is the only winter sport where leads the all time medal table (we also lead the all time medal tables for breaking and lacrosse). could realistically find itself not leading any all time medal tables for winter sports at the conclusion of these Olympics.
  3. Both should be included It’s only a contest because the only way the IOC seems to want to cut their own costs is limiting the number of athletes.
  4. I really dislike the current format for aerials, I kinda wish it has more of a big air like format, but I think one run is fine for moguls. There is enough consistency run to run for the favourites to usually win while leaving some room for upsets.
  5. Well that was what one might call a learning experience for the women’s doubles team.
  6. Do I dare to dream about a Super G or moguls medal tomorrow?
  7. She was visibly very emotional after as well. She was one of the jumper to have a jump disqualified due to suit issues in Beijing, which cost Japan a medal, so this probably felt like a big weight off her shoulders.
  8. I’m very serious when I say this: the women‘s hockey coaching staff should be fired before they leave Italy.
  9. And he gets to skate after the flood (which means more exposure) :D Hopefully this is the start of a renaissance for him. And certainly it’s amazing for him to be having this moment after all his struggles as a senior.
  10. Mea culpa in advance, I am finding myself in the position where I’ll be cheering primarily for in the men’s curling event - two of the players are local to the Seattle area (which is home for me) and the whole bunch seem like great people. (and unfortunately for the Americans here, it’s very rare for Americans I root for to do well xD )
  11. There is Dune soundtrack slander going on at the CBC and I will not stand for it
  12. This is a big thing the US has done much better than Canada for years now: they will pick the best players, even if they are young, even if they are still in the NCAA.
  13. I do hope there is a reckoning with how the women’s team is run, because they have consistently been the second best program in the world for almost two decades, and a somewhat lucky Olympic wins in 2014 and the team performing very well in 2018 and 2022 have sort of covered that up.
  14. I mean they’ve looked terrible all season. Silver may actually be a result worth celebrating for this team.
  15. I am kinda not looking to watching the finals >.>
  16. Carrillo made the free skate :D
  17. Making it to one of the top two flights (top 12) would be a real success here.
  18. So what are the odds Klæbo doesn’t win six golds here? Seems like the only event where he might be a little vulnerable is the 10km (and I guess maybe the relay if a teammate blows up).
  19. So has a real chance of overtaking in the all time medal table for Curling by the end of these Olympics. is now one gold behind, equal on silvers and one bronze ahead of
  20. I’m not sure what I hate the most, grammatical gender - like seriously why the fuck is a medal female - or the fact it makes perfect sense to me (and is like nails on a chalkboard when someone uses the wrong gender) because I’m a native French speaker xD Many people learning French as a second language have asked how I memorized various noun’s genders and it’s like… duno, for every noun one gender sounds correct and the other one sounds like you’re drowning puppies.
  21. The more I sit on it the more I’m happy Moltzan and Wiles won a medal. Both steady names on the World Cup for ever that haven’t broken through with a win yet. Having an Olympic bronze medal feels right for both of them (and will definitively mean a lot more to them than it would have for Johnson and Shiffrin)
  22. Something that is much better in freestyle skiing and snowboarding park and pipe events - the judges aren’t picked by their national federation so they don’t have to play favourite. Now don’t get me wrong, the judging in those events is far from perfect, the judges absolutely have their biases and they make mistakes, but despite being almost entirely "vibes based" judging in those sports still manages to feel more impartial than the segment scores in figure skating. Edit: another good thing about the judging of those events is that the judges are in constant communication with the athletes, coaches (and even the more plugged-in TV commentators) so everyone can understand the criteria they are being judged on.
