    FWIW, was definitively my favorite moment of those games. Hard to find many Olympic champions from those games who deserved it more.

    Spending the day in Venice, where the cell service wasn’t good enough for me to watch the Olympics. More seriously, Mikaël Kingsbury winning the inaugural dual moguls gold medal.

    Yup. Happiest I’ve ever been for any curling alternate to win Olympic gold.

    I distinctly remember this happening in 2010 already, was not a very happy memory :P

    The one that’s crazy to me is and , two countries that are extremely strong in inline speed skating, being incapable of getting medals in (long track) speed skating. If they had a well funded national team setup they would win winter Olympic medals in no time.

    It’s happened a couple times at worlds. We’ve had the final pre-emptively cancelled once (women’s snowboard slopestyle in 2018). As for how likely… depends on the weather tomorrow I guess. In 2022 they ran the men’s ski half-pipe final in some pretty horrible wind conditions.

    The Coventry reign is not off to a great start. She seems really incapable of generating good PR

    If the final can’t be held in time the final ranking would be in accordance of qualification results, so: Gold Atkin Silver Li Bronze Sharpe

    a 40 year old Bergsma wins the only men‘s speed skating gold medal for the Dutch, just as we all predicted.

    Also, is now the all time medal leader in freestyle skier, overtaking .

    So I guess men’s curling and hockey and less seriously the speed skating mass starts are the only gold medal chances left
