  1. Koreans are being robbed here. How surprising in China
  2. I agree! She’s the most successful speed skater in Olympic history. Well, Femke Kok, Jutta Leerdam, Thomas Krol, Merijn Scheperkamp are all making their Olympic debuts and are favorites/outsiders for medals. I think in either 2026 or 2030 we might see some Polish superstars as well, looking at the current juniors. Szymon Wojtakowski, Wiktoria Dabrowska and maybe Hanna Mazur can all win Olympic medals if they keep developing like this.
  3. After this season hahaha She’s 35 now, she was 19 when she won her first Olympic Gold.
  4. And a bronze medal for De Jong after such a disappointing 3.000m
  5. Wüst: 2006: 3.000m Gold 2010: 1.500m Gold 2014: 3.000m Gold 2018: 1.500m Gold 2022: 1.500m Gold The most successful Olympian in Dutch History.
  6. Wüst is now guaranteed of a medal. Her fifth medal on the women’s 1.500m. What a legend! She can win an individual gold medal at 5 consecutive Winter Olympic Games.
  7. Maybe two of them will finish 1st and 2nd and the third one will be advanced after a penalty by one of the non-Canadian skaters on the third.
  8. I really hope so! She’s in the first pair after the ice preparation, so the ice will still be softer. Plus she is skating before all the favorites, so she needs to set a time. I do I agree that maybe I should have put her higher as the conditions are tough and she has marathon experience.
  9. Draw for the women's 1.500m is out. 12. Hahaha, it will be his final 5k ever, so probably they won't talk about anyone else.
  13. Interesting draw for the men's 5.000m: Sven Kramer - Viktor Hald Thorup Emery Lehman - Felix Rijhnen Sergey Trofimov - Hallgeir Engebråten Livio Wenger - Ethan Cepuran Andrea Giovannini - Patrick Roest -- Ice preparation -- Jorrit Bergsma - Seitaro Ichinohe Patrick Beckert - Michele Malfatti Alexander Rumyantsev - Davide Ghiotto Ruslan Zakharov - Ted-Jan Bloemen Nils van der Poel - Bart Swings Strong first half and none of the top favorites skating against each other.
  14. out in the quarterfinals of the mixed relay!
  15. Is Nikola Mazur related to Hanna Mazur, the supertalent in long track speed skating?
  16. All three Dutch women winning their heat Choi and Velzeboer also had strong winning times. Going to be an exciting distance for sure.
  17. Olympic Record for Schulting in the heats Strong races from Boutin and Fontana as well.
  18. True, but it's only the heats on day 1. Her level is so high that if the symptoms aren't too bad, she should be able to get through the heats just fine. Let's hope she'll test negative before the heats.
  19. The Junior World Championships showed that there's solid potential in a lot of countries. Countries that had at least one top 10-finish in the classical distances: , , and have a realistic chance to finish top 10 in the mass start tomorrow. and did not take part due to COVID-restrictions. So the future looks very bright in my eyes for international speed skating. Some outstanding results: Wiktoria Dabrowska is still a junior for four more seasons after this one and already finished top 8 in the girls' 500m and even top 5 in the girls' 1.000m. She's at least 2 years younger than anyone else who made top 10 on both the girls' side. Sigurd Hunriksen is still a junior for two more seasons and finished almost 8 seconds ahead of the #2 in the boys' 5.000m. This must be the first international championships ever where had a top-10 finish on both the girls' and boys' side.
  20. Junior World Championships held in Innsbruck Pretty much all top juniors apart from Jordan Stolz were there. The classical distances have all been finished. The team pursuit, team sprint and mass start will be skated tomorrow. These are the podiums: Girls: 500m: Pien Smit Yukino Yoshida Sophie Warmuth 1.000m: Yukino Yoshida Alina Dauranova Jade Groenewoud 1.500m: Jade Groenewoud Evelien Vijn Chloé Hoogendoorn 3.000m: Jade Groenewoud Evelien Vijn Mio Takahashi Allround: Jade Groenewoud Evelien Vijn Park Chae-Won Boys: 500m: Joep Wennemars Nil Llop Yuta Hirose 1.000m: Joep Wennemars Kayo Vos Tim Prins 1.500m: Tim Prins Joep Wennemars Emil Pedersen Matre 5.000m: Sigurd Henriksen Stijn van de Bunt Vladimir Semirunnij Allround: Joep Wennemars Tim Prins Emil Pedersen Matre
