  1. To be honest, this could be Canada's only chance to host a Men's World Cup, even if it's a "joint" bid. I think Hamilton could choose a date probably after the eightfinals, as I doubt Toronto could host a match after that. I only hope that Mexico retires from this joke as soon as possible.
  2. So, Norway can still cheat its wat to the top at every Winter Olympics. Nice bias WADA.
  3. No sorry, I'm not a former student of UANL nor a subscriber of the newspaper, and I think neither is @RiSeGwangFan
  4. I'm against any form of human exploitation, especially children; but sexual exploitation is probably among the most vile acts a human can commit towards another. But since nothing I post on a forum may change anyone point of view, I'll refrain myself for further comments
  5. You're kidding right? You know basically hundreds of thousands of children are exploited in this "line of work"?
  6. Luis Ricardo Villalobos - Road Cycling Source
  7. As long as they want them, yes, they'll be held in Santo Domingo.
  8. Mexico forfeits the chance of hosting the centennial edition of the Central American and Caribbean Games in 2026, as Leon retired its bid. The one to blame is none other than that turd former Olympian Ana Guevara who snubbed the organizing committee, blatantly ignoring the request for support from the Federal government, which in part was due to the local authorities and the citizens are not on good terms with the President and its party.
  9. Well, I'm not mad, after all it's her place of birth and she only became Mexican after marrying one. Can't forget her performance in Beijing, which was the best and will be for some time, the best by a Mexican dressage rider. Always wondered if she could have improved her ranking competing for a "major" federation.
  10. Thank you very much.
  11. A late report from April 2 Robert Beck, 83, COVID 19 Modern Pentathlon, 1960 (2 bronze medals) & 1968 Summer Games
  12. Hello everyone! I rarely post some personal request but on this ocassion I will gladly appreciate if you could help me. As you know COVID-19 pandemic has made it difficult for many people around the world, either by causing them to become ill, restricting their freedoms and of course, disrupting the economy, from the macroeconomics national level all the way down to the people's means of living. From some time now I'm a member of a networking group, that among its ranks, features a Mariachi group. As some of you may already know, Mariachi music is one the traditional genres of Mexico and we're very proud of it. As you may have already guessed, all their projects and presentations were put on hold, so one of the means they hope to maintain their presence is by becoming "viral", by playing their songs, some of them original pieces like the one coming on May 6th, in the virtual world. I personally like the touch they put on their performance, but of course, you'll be better judges. To not drag this further, if it's not much to ask of your time and kindness, and of course if the Spotify and Youtube pages of Mariachi Rey are accesible in your respective countries, you could follow them and also reproduce some of its content. Mariachi Rey on Spotify Mariachi Rey on Youtube Thank you very much for your attention and I really hope you like some the music.
  13. Completed the missing podium for the 1991 Pan American eventing competition. Event Gold Medalist Silver Medal Bronze Medal Individual Eventing Nick Holmes-Smith Ruder Pest M.J. Tumbridge Bermuda's Option Abigail Lufkin Flexible Flyer Team Eventing Canada Nick Holmes-Smith Ruderpest Edie Tarves-Gourley Socrates Jamie Smart Glendevlin Stuart Young Black Von Perrier Bermuda M.J. Tumbridge Bermuda's Option Peter Gray Anton Carol Ann Blackman WatersmeeT Garry Rogue Casemate Mexico Jaime Velazquez Suárez Mary Lucas Rafael Garzon Arias Azteca Vicente Peralta Meraz Acapulco Rogelio Hernandez Acicate Gray & Blackmann competed at Seoul, the former also appearing at LA four years earlier. I found this article on Rogue, which states that he was born and did some eventing in Bermuda. Moreover it seems both Canada and Mexico had a fifth rider (Samantha Majendie and Fernando Parroquin, respectively), both of whom probably competed as individuals, as most of the American riders on the list. It seems Mexico's medal came by pure luck as those US riders named for the team competition didn't finished. As only 4 nations competed, that could be the cause this event was not on the official tally, as the old PASO rules stated that at least 5 countries must enter for the event to be considered in the official Games' program.
  14. Individual bronze went to USA's Abigail Lufkin, who got an "official" bronze medal in Winnipeg 8 years later and it's now a sports psychologist https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equestrian_at_the_1999_Pan_American_Games https://useventing.com/news-media/eventing-tv/video-sport-is-played-with-the-body-but-won-with-the-mind-with-abigail-lufkin
  15. Great job @Griff88 Thanks to your data, I found that it was Mexico who won 3rd place in the teams competition, with all four riders being members of the Armed Forces @dcro https://www.gob.mx/sedena/acciones-y-programas/juegos-panamericanos-habana-cuba-1991 According to the page above, the Mexican Army also counts that medal as being achieved at the Games, so in the end, only Panam Sports might be able to solve this confusion.
  16. Thank you for the wishes and hoped you enjoyed some delicious food. You're right, Cinco de Mayo (May 5th) is only relevant to Mexican expatriates living in the US. In Mexico it is not even an official holiday in the last 14 years. The only reason the day was remembered it's because it's the anniversary of the Battle of Puebla in 1862, the first time the Mexican army was victorious against a foreign power, in this case France. Of course, the victory was short lived, and the French Empire successfully took control of the country to install Maximilian of Habsburg in the Mexican throne; if not because Lincoln and the Union beat the Confederacy on time and threatened Napoleon III (who was already wary of Prussia), and with that helped the Republican rebels in Mexico, I could probably be speaking either French or German as my second language.
  17. Indeed. I'd love to actually see those sports cut back in the program, plus some adjustment and increase to better balance participation.
  18. Men's and Women's compound team events are now included in the program, which will add 14 individual places, meaning 34 athletes (17 in each gender) will compete in Santiago. They will follow the 2 per team format used at the 2019 Summer Universiade. Source
  19. and also in the podium for the last time...
  20. Done. Great job Matt!
  21. Both seem interesting, but I'll need to learn how to play Minecraft first.

(b) Sports themed Comments: (please add all additional comments and opinions in the comment box below. Songs must be related to sports events, movies, tv series, or reflect some "competition" "effort" in their lyrics. Only original version of the chosen song and not covers. Every entry represents an artist & country, but not a user or group of users. Each may nominate up to 3 songs from different Olympic countries & territories. A maximum 3 songs per country or territory, according to the date they were submitted. 3 phases: heats, semis and finals, depending on the total entries. Secret balloting in the first two phases; participating users shall be randomly drawn in a specific heat or semi. A member not voting in that heat should oversee and comunicate the scores. Songs in heats and semis should be sorted by random draw; however, users can't vote for any entry nominated by themselves. Final to be held "live" with votes revealed by each member.
