Men’s Quota ( 5 Quotas) &

We will play for 5/6 th probably against Pakistan . Finishing 5th will be a massive result & perhaps force the federation & SAI to look after this team more.

Hussamuddin is injured , else he would have been selected. I agree , Deepak’s selection is on merit & nothing controversial about it. We have a system in place now, where you just don’t make the team based on ONE trials but a point scoring system across a period. The points are awarded based on a range of factors by the coaching team. Finally, I feel we may add one more quota & medal in women’s section in either 54/57. The draws are unseeded & lopsided but we it eventually evens out, we get some good draws like 63.5 (M) 75 (W) & some stinkers 71 (M) 51 (M) etc So overall 4 quota places & 7-8 medals should be a good return .

Tbh we weren’t expected to win 🥇 in the events we won medals. It would have been a major surprise if we could have won a 🥇 . But 5 medals is not a bad start.

Our sports ministry has set an ambitious target of 100 medals from these games, that will be out highest ever by some margin ( Prev. Best 70 medals). With already 5 medals ( 3 🥈 & 2 🥉) on day 1, will be interesting to see how close we reach to that target.

China winning everything. They competed in 9/ 10 medal events so far & has won 9 Golds . 100% accuracy

excellent 🥈for us in men’s Eight. We really should think of sending a team to FCR . No Gold yet, but 3 🥈& 1 🥉 so far. Not a bad return.

This is a great result . It means we can win the LWM class in asian qualifying regatta as China won’t be there. Real chance of qualifying 2 boats & 3 athletes this time.

Great opportunity for us in 60 Kg , we have a decent wrestler at 60 as well. Only wrestler is probably better than ours . If we land a good draw we could have this quota.

Both Men’s & Women’s TT teams have topped their group and qualified to Knockout rounds. Women’s TT team 3-0 Men’s TT team 3-0

Greco-Roman Wrestling : Quotas in 77 Kg & Quotas in 130 Kg &

Women’s FS competition is over & we have our 1st quota at this world championships for Olympics. Next will be asian qualifiers, how many can we qualify in other weight categories? The Asian qualifiers so far: 50 Kg - & 53 Kg -✅ we have won the quota 57 Kg- only 62 Kg - & 68 Kg- & 125 Kg- & On first look 57kg looks the most difficult to get quota & 50 Kg looks our best chance. But our girls are one of the finest wrestlers in Asia & can win in other categories too. Things are not as bad as in Men’s FS with out of the way in all weight categories, it is much more even for rest of Asia for those two quotas.

Not the best advertisement for Cricket with games being decided without a ball being bowled . The organisers should have either kept reserve days or changed format into groups. This is one of Cricket’s biggest de-merits that it cannot be played in rain, for an outdoor sport that is always a challenge. If it does make it to LA 28 programme I hope ICC and LOC sits down together to find reserve days/ formats keeping the weather conditions in mind.

In Sailing, positive results in most races. But the best result is Vishnu leading the ILCA7 Class Dinghy ⛵️, after 4 races. Long way to go but really positive signs. There is also an Olympic quota on offer for the winner. So could be double delight. We can hope for multiple medals from sailing this time too.

Back to back wins for the boys. Great result 25-22, 25-22 & 25-21 3-0 Whatever happens in QF , we have already achieved 2 brilliant results.

Women’s Freestyle - Quotas in 53 Kgs & Quotas in 62 Kgs & Quotas in 68 Kgs &

We finally managed to get a medal at this world championships & that too in olympic weight category . Antim Panghal wins 🥉in her first senior world championships. As a result she qualifies a quota place for in 53Kgs for Paris Olympics Our 16th Quota overall & 1st in Wrestling

It makes GR wrestling quite boring to watch as compared to FS wrestling. So little action even in the lighter weight classes. Doesn’t make for a great viewing !
