  1. At the ongoing ILCA 7 world championships in Adelaide, 7 quota places are available for Paris 2024 After 8/10 races Vishnu Saravanan is in pole position among those eligible for a quota place. He is on 64 points & has a considerable lead going into the final two races. Hopefully tomorrow we will have our first quota place in sailing ⛵️ for Paris .
  2. Last 2 races left. Quotas will be allocated tomorrow. Our sailor is positioned well to take one of the 7 quotas. He had a terrible 2nd race today, else would have been further ahead.
  3. ISSF world cup Cairo, 10m AP (W) : Anuradha Devi won 🥈 & Rhythm Sangwan finished 4th. Looks likely we will be sending a shooter in final qualifier in Rio for the one remaining quota in 10m AP(W). 10m AP(M) : Sagar Dangi finished 6th
  4. Men’s Fly & Middle weights are stacked with quality boxers & are toughest to call. Aidan’s inclusion will only add to that competition .
  5. 6. Squad for the World qualification tournament #1 in Busto Arsizio, Italy 9 boxers ( 7 men & 2 women) Men: Men's Flyweight (51Kg) - Deepak Bhoria Men's Featherweight (57Kg) - Mohammed Hussamuddin Men's Light Welterweight (63.5Kg) - Shiv Thapa Men's Light Middle Weight (71Kg) - Nishant Dev Men's Light Heavyweight (80Kg) - Lakshay Chahar Men's Heavyweight (92Kg) - Sanjeet Kumar Men's Super Heavyweight (+92Kg) - Narender Berwal Women: Women's Lightweight (60Kg) - Jaismine Lamboria Women's Welterweight (66Kg) - Ankushita Boro
  7. Draws are out for ITTF world team championships to be held in Busan, from 16-25 Feb’24 . 8 Team quotas will be up for grabs in each gender & last chance to qualify a team . ( 1 quota will be allocated via world ranking route after the end of this championships) Men’s Draw : (WR 16) We are in group 3 with ( 3), (18), (33)& ( 35) Women’s Draw : ( WR 17) We are in Group 1 with: (1) , (16), ( 46) & (49) ** Top 3 from each group qualify to KO rounds.
  8. Happy with our group in both men’s & women’s section. should progress to KO round. Have they drawn for KOs as well? Which group winners play whom & so on?
  9. I find it easy to use , as sports are segregated into different threads, additionally we have Paris qualification thread to keep updated on athletes qualification. If all gets put into a single thread , it might be difficult to follow if you don’t visit the page regularly. Either way am OK with whatever the majority of the members decide. Especially old members & active members who are doing a fantastic job of updating sports results & relaying sports news. If they feel this is the best way , so be it.
  10. AFC Asian cup ⚽️ 0-1 Sad way to end our tournament. 0 points & 0 goals scored 6 conceded. We are not progressing at the rate we should , expect our ranking to be around 117-118 . Now focus must be on reaching Round 3 of WCQ with matches against in March.
  11. I hope Vishnu qualifies , he should have qualified at the Asian championships but missed out. He has to get this quota here & not wait for the last chance regatta. It will also be our first sailing quota for Paris if he gets it .
  12. How badly has Chinese football fallen off, they were pouring so much money into their league & football structure not long ago. They didn’t even score a goal in 3 matches that they played.
  13. I would suggest you wait till the World team championships due to be held next month before simulating the individual qualifiers. 8 places are up for grabs & going by previous editions some upsets are bound to happen . I am hoping would qualify a team in both men’s & Women’s or at least in one of the categories. We are ranked 16th in the world in men’s & 17th in Women’s, its perfectly possible for us to qualify. Infact for Tokyo olympics, the championship was held in Portugal & our men’s team were one of the favourites for the quota but lost in a shock result. Hopefully after the world team championships it will be easier to simulate the entries.
  14. Sonnekalb gets 🥇for Germany in 500 m speed skating (M) -🥈& -🥉
  15. We are the only asian country to qualify in Men’s Hockey. Really surprising stat. Europe has 7/ 12 qualified teams. Taking 5/6 quotas from the last qualifiers in Oman & Spain. Safe to say, while Europe has excelled in field hockey Asia has gone backwards. Congratulations to & for the final quota places .
  16. For anyone interested, Highlights of these matches are available in the youtube channel of CONMEBOL
  17. Muscat, Oman SF 4- 0 Qualifies for Paris Olympics
  18. Yes, it should cross 100. We have excelled in Shooting so far , already 4 extra qualifiers from Tokyo . I think we can add 1/2 more in shooting. So out of 16 lost in hockey we can compensate with 6 from shooting. I hope we can make up another 4-5 from athletics this time & reach break even in most of the other sports. Hopefully then we will have figure very close to Tokyo .
  19. Anant Jeet Singh Naruka finished 2nd in Skeet (M) at the Asian shooting championships & qualifies for Paris Olympics by getting 1 of the 2 available quotas. 36th Quota place for & Athletes contingent size now up to 51 in 7 sports Our 19th Shooting quota out of a maximum possible 24. We will now have representation in all shooting events at Paris olympics.
  20. Raiza Dhillon finished 2nd in Skeet (W) at the ongoing Asian shooting championships & qualifies for Paris Olympics by getting 1 of the 2 available quotas. 35th Quota place for & Athletes contingent size now up to 50 in 7 sports
  21. Good day for us after a disastrous day yesterday. not only getting the two Skeet quotas but are now eligible for mixed skeet too which means we will compete in every shooting event at Paris Mathematically we can still get 24/24 quotas in shooting with the world qualifier & rankings. Good performance from our shooting team , credit to our federation NRAI. And finally with these two quota places our contingent size now goes up to 51 athletes in 7 sports
  22. We need proper funding for winter sports, the sports ministry & our NOC are only focussed on Summer games & sports. Getting more kids into winter sport is never a problem but getting proper funding & raising interest in winter sport is a big problem which can only be initiated by the NOC & sports ministry. Whatever little achievement we have in winter sports is solely due to individual athletes perseverance & effort. We as a nation are slowly putting efforts to make sports a priority & not just recreational pass time. Hopefully that will translate into participation & results in winter sports too.
  23. Our lone representative in this edition of winter youth games . Sahil Thakur ( Alpine Skiing)
  24. Very hard to take , considering we beat this same Japanese team in Asian games last year & playing at home we should have won . We wasted so many penalty corners. This is a big setback considering we finished 4th in Tokyo olympics & now we can’t even qualify. Blame has to start with the coach as it is always , controversial team selection, leaving out experienced players but the players that played today must shoulder some of that blame. At the end we were not good enough & that has costed us a place in olympics! This will hit us hard in our overall contingent size too, don’t think we can match the numbers for Tokyo now
