  1. The whole lottery is still fishy as hell. The whole fear of tanking is a mirage, some teams are perenially bad and it doesn't have anything to do with trying to acquire #1 draft pick. That's the downside of having no relegation system, you can suck for decades and you still play against all the top teams. Moreover NHL is not NBA, two or three players won't make you a contender overnight.
  2. Not a single run without penalties in either M or W events? That looks weird unless many teams entered some back-ups?
  3. Zoinks. Wozniacki suggests she's coming back
  4. 1-2 in men's ski jumping. Daniel Tschofenig wins ahead of Jan Hoerl. Gregor Deschwanden with bronze medal. Fatih Arda Ipcioglu in 11th place
  5. A quick look at the #1 draft lottery in NHL suggests it always goes to a big market or historically successful franchise amid a slump. Columbus in 2002 got their #1 via a trade, other than that it's always the big markets. In the last 15 years the #1 pick went to New York area or Edmonton Oilers like 90% of the time And of course Maple Leafs won the Auston Matthews lottery. Columbus? Anaheim? The Coyotes mess? Neah, they are the Grizzlies or Timberwolves of NBA. They will never win a lottery when a hyped prospect comes around. Timberwolves only "won" the lottery in one of the most anonymous NBA drafts in recent memory
  6. Nastja Kolar and Alexandra Riley banned for life for match fixing between 2015-2020. Both were ITF regulars. https://www.itia.tennis/news/sanctions/kolar-and-riley-banned-from-tennis/
  7. So, the biggest prospect goes to a huge market aka the third biggest city in USA instead of Anaheim or Columbus? Is the NHL lottery as fixed as "Ewing to New York" back in the day?
  8. Daniel Tschofenig leads after the 1st round which isn't a surprise given his training jumps. Hektor Kapustik will finish 37th and he managed to beat the entire 4-man contingent
  9. wins in women's foil. It's as predictable as winning in table tennis?
  10. Four Olympic quota bouts today and lost all four of them. So much for any domestic help from the judges. They must be helping some other nations
  11. Perijoc looked better in my eye, much faster than Drabik who is almost 35 years old tbh.
  12. Yeah, the bout was chaotic at best. Cakiroglu landed one good combo in the third round which was enough to look better
  13. Cakiroglu takes the women's 50 kg QF over Rok. takes the Iberian derby over
  14. Surmeneli wins the 66 kg QF. I have no idea what was Rygielska doing there in the final round?
  15. Here are the quota matches today (for Paris, not Tokyo ):
  16. Yeah, that is required but I believe she will be called up for the November finals so that would take care of it.
  17. Yeah, the story about the trumpeter is a medieval myth but the Mongol Invasion was real I presume most adults in Poland have heard the Kraków Trumpet Call hundreds if not thousands of times in their lives. It's played every hour from the tower of the St. Mary's church so any tourist who's been to Kraków must have heard it numerous times as well
  18. It's the start of the St. Mary's Trumpet Call - another thing heavily associated with Kraków for several decades. A lot of cities in Europe - especially those dating to medieval times - have similar calls but it's obiously not the same one for each city https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Mary's_Trumpet_Call
  19. As one-sided final as it gets. Nothing for the highlights outside of UK
  20. Szocs totally crushed it - 11-3 in the decider!!! The Chinese from Monaco is furious, almost threw the racquet and kicked the boards.
  21. Szocs in line for a massive comeback. Down 1-3 in sets and leads 6-1 in the decider...
  22. Seifriedsberger wins the women's ski jumping 0.3 pts ahead of Prevc. Kramer with bronze.
  23. Seifriedsberger vs Prevc for the gold after the first round given their advantage. Kramer with a 6 points gap over 4th place.
  24. Five jumpers in and Tamara Mesikova leads the women's competition @hckošice
  25. Elizabeta Samara beats Natalia Bajor 4-3 in the bronze medal match. So that's two medals for in women's singles
