Yauheni Tskiantsou almost won gold in the final attempt even before group A started. Even if he tried 221 might have won gold today but he was so close to 225 and 408 total, 4kg ahead of Li. Ends at 400kg let's see what happens.

Don Opeloge 391kg
Hasanbayev 392kg in Qualifying position

with 236kg (but I guess she can not get an universality quota, because this category will be a HN, right?)
Eyglo Fanndal STURLUDOTTIR
She can. The French woman has qualified on own merit(top 10) or may even opt to lift in 81kg where she's qualified. Host nation counted when athlete has not qualified normally (ie finished top 10)

We may have missed Tonga but I think the qualifier was great overall. Record participation, many close fights, upsets. I think this Oceania qualifier should stay for long. I think in combat sports this is the best chance to qualify multiple athletes if the ecosystem is strong in Oceania.
While wrestling also has direct qualifiers, due to Africa it's a little harder. Boxing needs a limit on Australia say max 8.

I'm afraid they have no chance of quota
Best chance for was -67 where Lolohea won 10-5 in Rd1. After that she had no energy in next 2 rounds against New Zealand athlete.
is really good this time with a great ecosystem for Taekwondo with a Korean coach.

And Pita is out of the Games, he lost his first round match 0-2 to Fiji
Taekwondo is rising in Oceania. Suddenly a month before you can't come back to a sport and expect to qualify.

Qualifying starts at 9am Solomon Islands Time, around 4 hours from now. If anyone has a livestream do share.

Oddly, New Zealand doesn't have a nomination criteria for taekwondo.
Historically, they have been selected. In general, New Zealand wants a top 16 finish with the potential of finishing in the top 8 which taekwondo fulfills
NZNOC considering TNZ, is it official. OTU still says there are not recognised, on Facebook page

The heavy weight will be interesting as also has a very good Taekwondo player who won silver at -73kg at Pacific Games. Should be an interesting face off for quota between 2 nations that never qualified a Taekwondo player.
In -67, Pauline Lolohea has been pretty good. She hasn't lost to anyone except Rebecca Murray who's not selected. She was very competitive in her 1st round loss at world champs too. So unless the New Zealand athlete is pretty good she might not be able to beat her. Even if she does, NZNOC might not take her in team as there's no noteworthy results at international level. Since are in same half if she reaches finals, quota goes to 2nd highest ranked athlete at the competition which would probably be Naitasi Lolohea, the 16 year old in the other half.

In 68kg an athlete now representing is participating. He may win the quota only for it to be reallocated to maybe .
+80 another very interesting category. I'm giving the edge due to being at home as well as his Pacific games performance. Pita can never be ruled out even though he remembers Taekwondo only at Oceania Qualifiers. has an outside chance too.

Kim Iseul ranked 23rd with 238kg from Group C leads with a new PB of 255kg at 8th position in qualification. She didn't miss 261kg total by a big margin though. Kim Suhyeon is displaced and need 256 now to leapfrog her country woman to go to Paris
