  1. I feel the newer format is awesome and interesting. (Not bcoz India won all golds in the new format since introduced in rifle and pistol world cup ) Maybe from top 8 they can have quarters with teams competing with each other as 1vs 8 2vs 7...
  2. Sonia Lather hasn't been that good over the years and been out of action for almost a year in big events. Sarita Devi had beaten Simranjit in India open 3-2, though the scoreline looked closer than it actually appeared as claimed by reports. Lovlina would make it over others as she's world medallist meaning possible higher seed at Asian championships and easier draw until semis.
  3. Will athletics be worth watching even a session with only select events
  4. Now that you entered the Indian National Thread you shall be trapped here and be required to post about Indian athletes every week. . . . . . . . p. s: National Threads are sometimes boring so yeah thanks for giving an opportunity to joke. Always welcomed here
  5. Yup there are white ones.. Like the ones in North east resembling Myanmar, China etc
  6. As IOC said the quotas were based on the performance of continents in World Championships the last 2 women's world championship were in India and Kazakhstan. So we got quotas easily. Women's categories : *48-51 : Mary Kom China, Kazakhstan, Japan, North Korea, India + 1. Easy qualification. Even Mongolia and Taipei are good in this weight but with 6 in world qualification, more will join. *54-57 :Sonia Chahal/Nikhat Zareen/Manisha Moun China, North Korea,Thailand /India /Mongolia /Vietnam *57-60 Sarita Devi Thailand , China,South Korea, Mongolia /Tajikistan - unpredictable but Olympic bronze medallist from 2012 Chorieva is still 28 /India - may get a difficult draw due to poor performance in this category *64-69 Basumatry /Lovlina China, South Korea, Kazakhstan, India - not difficult competition unless a difficult draw, mostly not bcoz of world bronze *69-75 Pooja Rani After beating the world champion in 81kgrecently, she's expected to be in top 4 easily if not the best returning to 75kg. China India South Korea Kazakhstan Optimistic :5 Pessimistic :3 Average : 4
  7. Angola is qualified in handball long ago.
  8. And again the Indian Recurve team crumble under pressure settling for silver. Atanu Das shoots six 8s out of 8 shots along with consuming 35s in 1st shot of end 4.What a disaster!!The Women came into pressure early in pre quarters men did it a bit later in finals!! Even Tarundeep Rai shot 2 7s and 2 8s with cumulative score not even 210 out 240, and India choke in important occasions as usual, especially in televised matches if you notice. Need to learn from Chinese having two 18 year olds, like current Indian shooting team with juniors.
  9. He doesn't need to qualify by timings either for Wch or Olympics. He'll make it through rankings comfortably and yeah the Olympic final was won in 3:50 at Rio
  10. 10 am local time ( 1.30pm IST) Men's Team Recurve Gold starts at 2.59pm IST.
  11. Ok. Just 3 days elder to me ofc
  12. Your not 18 seriously?
  13. So Mexico, Sweden and Denmark won the quotas.
  14. Where are the results
  15. Archery finals are not today. Compound finals on Saturday Recurve finals on Sunday Today women's individual recurve Olympic qualifying event.
  16. Team got enough training. They were in Netherlands for last 1 week compared to German woman team reaching 2 days before ranking rounds. Also world archery published a report where it is said Komalika Bari missed the target and she only shot the scores of 3 and 5. It was a shocking decision to include her in world's team instead of going with experienced Laxmirani Manji or youngster Ankita Bhagat who has done well.
  17. Maybe Thailand could get 1. Also Mongolia could qualify a mixed team from the Asian Games quota, as North Korea ' may reject' the quota citing poor medal chances just as they have done so many times. A no show at the world championship is just a indicator I believe.
  18. 25th Position in Qualifying by Abdullah Baki in 10m Air Rifle. However till date Siddikur Rahman in Golf was the only Bangladeshi Qualifier. Rest all were tripartite invitation.
  19. I read somewhere it was raining quite a lot when the women's pre quarters started. But everyone had the same condition.
  20. Mexico, Italy, United States and France are also not qualified so it won't be that easy. Also no team did as badly as India by cumulative scores in quarters. If Deepika wins tomorrow she will very likely win the Olympic quota individually.
  21. Wondering who were those 2 archers shooting 3 and 5,surely 1 among them missed.
  22. What if Australia win the mixed team in Pacific Games? The men's quota reallocated to Oceania or the World's?
  23. Option D sounds good to me
  24. Indian archers are the best example of chokers. The Women were 4-0 up and needed a 10 in last shot to win against Russia in quarters in Rio 2016 , they shot 8 and Russia went on to win silver. Here the qualification scores were good but series of 43, 44,53,51 are horrible to even watch. Just like the missed shot on 1st arrow, Indian women will miss the tokyo ticket here. What a shame
  25. Women's team loses to Belarus 6-2
