  4. Eh...missing the only chance to qualify directly doesn't make someone less legitimate as a contender, otherwise we should say the same about athletes like Eleftherios Petrounias or Aurelie Muller

  8. Well, Sohi recently took over the ride on former British team horse Don Carissimo. She scored 61.6% on debut in early October, and then just a little higher last weekend. Of course, nobody expects her to get 72-74% scores that Gareth Hughes was getting on that horse. And she doesn't need that for Tokyo anyway - 66% or more would be enough to challenge Morocco and Palestine for the individual quota places. However, Tokyo will probably come too soon for them. Qualification period ends on December 31st, and that leaves them very little time for improvement. I watched them compete on their debut. Potential is there, but there were oh-so-many cheap rhythm mistakes, which can be only rectified with more training = more time. Participation at 2022 WEG is more realistic.

  14. But from the pure public relations standpoint, it would make sense to keep the Olympic rankings page... And not expect athletes / media / stakeholders / fans to scroll through the World rankings. This probably caused some confusion all over.

  18. I think we can expect no ranking update until Monday - the World Ranking will be published as it will be on Monday and the Olympic one will be published as it is today. Or maybe they're adding points from races from Tuesday according to the last time zone (GMT -12), no matter if there was any there and the Olympic ranking will be published tomorrow.

  19. Jungels has never finished higher than 10th at any world championship time trial. He wasn't a medal contender next year Japan getting the spot ahead of Luxembourg is no big deal Just like it would be no big deal if Latvia pipped Luxembourg to that 30th spot and they get in

  20. Just an update on this, It’s going to be awhile. I’m still currently figuring out the formatting and making results books for the various games that are going on right now. This is on my long list of things to do around here, so it may be awhile, but I think the end product will be one people like.

  21. Well if he was a legitimate medal contender, he'd have finished in the top 10 at the worlds and qualified that way. It's not that big a deal IMO

  23. Finish of the pursuit in São Carlos, where @brunamoura beat Maria Cecilia Dominguez of Argentina after an insane race. Started twenty seconds behind, closed the gap on the climbs in the first kilometer, opened a gap on the big climb that followed, but had to slow down and Dominguez came back. She went straight into the Argentinian's back for the second-to-last straight, which goes slightly uphill but, more importantly, had a strong headwind. Opened the sprint a tiny bit too early, but then again, it turned out perfectly. The race should not have been 50 meters longer, Dominguez was closing in fast in the last 50 meters or so.

  33. in 1964, 3 different venues were used for the Equestrian competitions: - Karuizawa (Chiba Prefecture) hosted the 3-Day event - the Equestrian Park in Setagaya-ku* (Tokyo) hosted the Dressage competitions - the National (Olympic) Stadium in Shinjuku-ku* (Tokyo) hosted the Show Jumping events * -ku basically means "block"... for more details, check the IOC Tokyo 1964 Official Reports #1 (page 115 and following) and #2 (page 577 and following)... https://digital.la84.org/digital/collection/p17103coll8

It is not specified if there are any confirmations of this hypothesis neither if it is going to happen in athletics only or it will be extended to other sports. However, it is stated in the end of the news that Ganus expects limitations to Russia from multiple international sport federations

  36. Looks like UCI is being lazy. But unlike with 3x3, there will be no surprises here. I think the only significant change will be Belarus overtaking Turkey for 2 quotas.
