  1. I have no words, Ibrahim Colak was my school-mate in the middle school, he was such a nice and humble guy, 5 years ago we could not imageine a world medal in gymnastics. He came 5th back in 2017 but last year he could not get into the final. I was not expecting this result, incredible. I am very happy for our medal but as a person who knows him I am very happy because I know that he really deserves this. I hope he can win a medal next year in the olympics. He already has written history for Turkey, why not expand the history.

  7. There is a near imperceptible moment when Lodadio's forearms are used for him to keep balance in a handstand. This deducts 0.3 from his final score. It's one of those things that casual fans don't see, but judges are very careful when judging. It was a fair result, though Çolak also had some errors, of course. Last year we had a much better final when it comes to the execution of skills, but this year was a lot more unpredictable. Great final, still.

  8. So far all the 9 medallists in the men's apparatus finals are from different nations.

  9. Qualifying for the Olympics as a ring specialist was extremely hard this cycle. Fourth at worlds not enough, that's harsh.

that's well possible...our swimming federation in the last 10 years improved a lot in both the technical and the financial mangement...and now iot's one of the richest federations in Italy (thanks mainly to the good results, as funding released by NOC is based mainly on that)... and Open Water Swimming has always been well supported, it's never been the black sheep of the federation (probably because they were already winning world medals when our pool swimmers still used to struggle a lot even in the European context)...

no, our budget is always the same (more or less) of the last few years (and it's quite a poor one, if compared to Nations like GB or GER or probably also FRA)... most of those medals can be explained with the extraordinary results we got at the recent Acquatics Worlds (more than half of them come from that event...and we all know that some of them have been just a lucky coincidence -Katie Ledecky being sick at the beginnning of that event, Serbian men in Waterpolo competing with their C team after having previously earned the Olympic spot at the Home World Cup, Paltrinieri taking advantage of a bad day from Wellbrock and Romanchuk in the 800m free)... then we have the usual high number of medals from Fencing and Shotgun Shooting (even if only "minor" medals) and no Gold and also a few in Track Cycling (where we have a young and improving female team, who dominated the junior ranks for years and now are starting to show up also among the senior ranks) and in a new discipline like Karate... plus those 3/4 random champions we have here and there (Rowing, Chamizo in Wrestling, the Nacra teams in Sailing, Kerschbaumer in Mountain Bike)... basically, we can say that we have a couple of sports rising (Swimming and Track Cycling), a couple trying to keep up with the high hopes (Fencing and Shooting), the new addition (Karate) and a few random exploits... we'll see if next year those disciplines can confirm (or why not? improve) themselves or if it's gonna happen what normally happens to the Italian sports...losing positions when it really matters... p.s.however, it's 36 medals...but half of them being just bronze (and not set to improve, rather losing positions in 12 months) and only 6/7 being Gold (a couple of which are impossible to be confirmed)...it's not such a good persepctive as it might look...

  30. it's in Italian (sorry, I didn't find anything in English)... https://www.oasport.it/2019/10/ginnastica-elsa-garcia-shock-ai-mondiali-abusata-e-insultata-dagli-allenatori-non-mi-hanno-fatto-qualificare-alle-olimpiadi/ according to the article, it's not even the first time Eric Demay and Cecile Pellerin are charged with this kind of behaviour (also the Swiss team sent them away in 2007 after Ariella Kaeslin reported to have been abused verbally, psychologically and phisically by the French couple)...

  34. Yes, it's the most recent scandal on our already troubled sport. More troubling is that piece of shit Ana Guevara is opening her filthy trap and getting her hands in, which must surely add more doubts to the whole process, as she is known to favor those athletes that are part of the talent agency run by a "ladyfriend" of hers.

  39. No Olympics (for now) for Petrounias! EDIT: He needs 90 points at the World Cup series to qualify for the Olympics. He has zero at the moment. China's Yang needs to win only one stage to qualify. Petrounias will likely not be at the 2020 Olympics!
