  8. From a morale perspective losing 10-2 is pretty soul crushing, especially for a junior team. The coaching staff better be ready to deal with that.

  14. quite a nice Spengler Cup, this year luckily, there have been quite a lot of close games and very few blowouts (namely, Ambrì thrashed by Frolunda in the first playoff match ) game of the tournament, Davos vs Frolunda (the semifinal match), but really honorable mention for HC Dynamo Pardubice and their amazing comeback from 1-3 to 4-3 in the last 3+ mins of the semifinal vs

  15. Good news for the YOG maybe?

  16. True, but I honnestly don´t see it as such big problem in this particular case, Blowouts happens, in the Juniors all the time, It is not their first blowout, such... I call them "dumb matches" happens time to time. Especially because up to 38th minute it was one fantastic hockey match from both sides, we were even outshooting and outplaying USA in the 2nd period like no one did in this tourney... but then came the 4th and 5th goals within 30 seconds at the end of the 2nd and a horrible game from both reserve goalies in this game (Seriously one of the worst goaltending match I remember, it was like every USA´s shot ended in the net ) and that was the end... from third periode´s 6th goal we benched both our top lines and the bottom lines played their Ice times in the last 20 minutes, so not really surprising a quite entertaining equal game until then ended by a complete blowout. No worried about the moral problem I assure you, our guys will forget this game by tomorrow. The main problem is we just do not know to play them. From all eventual opponents in the quarters we will have to face exactly the one we just do not know to beat at any level at any category... our seniors did not beat Finland since 2003.. the longest current winless streak of our hockey teams..

  17. are also eligible to win a quota since the 2024 Worlds have a higher priority. Should they qualify here then their continental quota will be reallocated.

  19. This is what happens when you Rest number 1 goaltender. Anyway, There always also a good thing within bad things, This slap arrived at the best time and seriously, this was the best moment to pick a "dumb match". Bad thing this will probably means in the quarterfinals, our cryptonite, so yeah, there always more bad things within bad things at the end.... at leats our goalie is rested and will be fresh on the quarters Tuesday

  21. Also worth mentioning that the GB mixed duet were top 5 in both the technical and free routines having picked up 2 bronze medals at the European Games and Shortman/ Thorpe took the bronze in the duet freestyle at European Games. The team are getting better, but their acrobatic routine is a weak link that needs a lot of work to put them in contention for Olympic quota. That being said, with the strength of the duets, and if the team can show continued improvement, I think we could see artistic swimming getting another uplift in their funding as we move through to LA '28.

  24. That entire middle weekend is going to be incredible. Toss up for me between Day 8 and Day 9. Both have finals in swimming, track & field, and gymnastics. Plus it's the last 2 rounds of men's golf, the 2 cycling road races (that's going to be something special), all the finals in tennis. I will be locked in!!

  27. My team sport predictions with tiers (I prefer doing it this way instead of just handing out G, S & B): I'll put an * next to not already qualified teams (in some cases I'll be considering the chances of two teams that can't both qualify, eg. Slovenia and Greece in men's basketball). These are tiers that grade the teams according to my perception of their chances to win a medal (ANY medal, not just gold). Though if I rate a team in the highest tier ("very likely to win a medal") it also means they're the main gold medal favorite for me. If you see that a qualified team is not included in any tier then it means I believe the medal chances of that team are rather marginal. I opted to skip 3x3 predictions cuz my knowledge is not deep enough (I follow the results but I'm not too aware about roster changes from tournament to tournament and such). Tiers... Tier 1 - Very Likely to win a medal Tier 2 - Likely to win a medal Tier 3 - In contention for a medal Tier 4 - Outside chance of a medal

  31. As for my biggest qualification hopes they would have to be our women’s volleyball team, Scachter/Dearing in men’s beach volleyball, one of our field hockey teams and our men’s epee team. There’s also our women’s 3x3 team, but their ticket to Paris is almost guaranteed.

  32. I am also hoping Julia Tunks can qualify in Discus, she was too young for Budapest, but might be old enough for Paris. Her PB is 59.11, so not too far off.
