At this rate I insist, cancel the event!

At the USTAF meet in Eugene, World Continental Tour Series Shaunae Miller Uibo posted a 49.08 time, superb considering the conditions during the meet!! just to make things clear to all those teenagers in Namibia who is the boss

The women’s 400 m will definitely be a funny freak show with Miller-Uibo, the athletes from Namibia and Eid Naser. Would be great if Seyni would also be allowed to compete.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

:TTO is next country which withdrew from World Relays. At this rate I believe that just European nations and several from Africa will take part here + India dn Japan. But I'm not sure if our government will allow Indian athletes enter to country due to high number of infectionts and new variant there.

The :GER 4x100m women's relay will be another team that will not start at the World Relays this weekend. The main reason being that two of their runners suffer from muscular issues after a training camp in Spain. Also the current pandemic was taking in account. The :GER 4x100m women's relay is already qualified for Tokyo.

Is it worth it when only a few teams will turn up.

yes...those who show up are always right and deserve to take advantage of their commitment, absents are always wrong and deserve to lose their privilege...:pope:

Once they made it an Olympic qualifier, with certain nations targeting the event, it was always going to go ahead.

Most of those who've pulled out (all?) are already qualified. The world relay medals don't have that much prestige yet so the focus is on qualification.

    • Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.

    • Off to Milan for the 145th session of the International Olympic Committee. Although the agenda has not been published yet, there shouldn’t be any major items over these two days, apart from the election of a member of the IOC Executive Board. This will be the eighth time the session is held in Italy, the last one being during the Turin 2006 Olympic Games.

    • Weightlifting We now have six events per gender with a total of 10 athletes per event.   The Olympic Qualification Rankings will be based on the sum of the total results of five events (three from period 1 and two from period 2). The top 8 will qualify.   The 9th spot will also be based on the OQR, but it will go to the highest ranked athlete from an unrepresented continent.   The 10th spot will be split between the host and universality (3 each per gender). Should the United States qualify normally then their host quota will be reduced, first going to an athlete from an unrepresented continent then to the overall highest ranked athlete.   Additionally, a "Best Lifter" will be awarded which would give the nation the chance to qualify 4 athletes rather than the max of 3.
