Yeah, if the ranking was just the combined rankings of the top four players or even something less excessive such as the top 10 players it wouldn't be so bad. No one should expect the 100th ranked person of a nation to have a chance at qualifying to the Olympics.

Yesterday was indeed an awesome day for the Mongolian league with 4 tournaments and 400,000 points gained. Today they played only 3 tournaments, rumor has it that players asked for a lunch break. Hopefully this selfish act won't hurt their chances to qualify.

What was the reason to accept this in the olympics?

It's too new and underdeveloped, there barely are any 3x3 specialists. It took rugby sevens like 20 years of having an established world series to be accepted in the games. FIBA invented this trash in one day and the next they are accepted by IOC???

I wouldn’t say the sport is underdeveloped. It’s completely the IOC’s and more likely FIBA’s fault for a allowing the qualification system to be exploited like this. It’s shameful.

It would be fine if they didn’t use the completely, 100% BS federation ranking.

tbh, there's nothing new or underdeveloped in 3x3 basketball...but this isn't the real 3x3 basketball, the same kind of game you can find in all the playgrounds around the world (and especially the big US cities, NY and L.A. above all)...

it's just the same fiba basketball, but played by only 3 men/women per team...

and this qualification system is just criminal...to say the least...

    • The story of  boxer Dmitrijs Avsijenkovs and his incredible 100%, 29 fight knockout record.    Unfortunately.....   Boxer who was knocked out 29 times in 29 fights finally gave up on his disastrous career
    • apparently our NOC rejected the winter sport federation request to send a bigger delegation.   they published a list of just 14 athletes. 8 in CC skiing, 2 in Alpine and 4 in SkiMo. equal number of male and female athletes in each sport.
    • Yeah, I'm not entirely opposed of different host cities, but 24 hours of sports is not a good idea. Keep it to the 16-18 hour days.
