:GRE basketball legend Dimitra Zaponidou passed away at 89 yo

She was the first captain of our women's national team. A great player for Greece in an era where it was almost unheard of for women to be playing basketball in our country. A lot of people believe she lived in the wrong country and that in another life she would've been a big name in the basketball world.

This is a news report about her death. You don't need to speak Greek to see what a treasure she was, the video of her dribbling the ball and reminiscing on her career/younger days

:BRA Gabriel Ohnmacht, one of our first athletes to compete in Speed Skating, died at the age of 23.

Damn :(

I remember when he started appearing here and there, basically the first one to set some semi-serious national records on the 500m all the way through 3000m. Tragic read, his mother found him lifeless on the sofa, but he had his headphones on so at first she thought he just didn't hear her...

    • actually, in a short span like in this tournament, it's a lot better to play in 2 consecutive days and keep the daily routine than having a day off the only issue might be the rules about pitching, but this time they don 't have any influence since no Venezuelan pitcher threw more than 39 pitches last night and therefore they are all available tonight  remember that baseball sometimes also plays doubleheaders (with only 30/60 min break between 2 matches) playing in consecutive days is the rule, not an exception for those players
