I think we have past the point of no return, the Games will happen no matter what at this point. There's too much money involved, just like with other big sport events like F1, the Champions League, EURO2020, etc. And it's quite clear that most of the "important" nations won't request a postponement or cancellation this year, unlike in 2020. Japan will also be under more pressure to deliver as more and more international events will have spectators as we will get closer to the Games.

It doesn't matter how effective the Chinese vaccine actually is, facts matter very little in Hungary when it comes to politics. If Orbán says that it's good enough, then there's nothing UEFA or EU can do to stop us from having a match with a full stadium other than to take away the matches from Budapest, but that's just not going to happen.

It might happen if UEFA fear a full stadium means the players and support staff catch the virus. The last thing they want is the virus spreading among the participants -Espescally the risk of it being a vaccine busting variant.

To all people wanting cancellation check  what the PM told yesterday. He's delayed the question now by St least 50 days with his answer.

No, it won't. You live in an alternate reality if you think that's possible. We are living in a world where Qatar is hosting a FIFA World Cup while doing much worse things than letting a full stadium of vaccinated people spectate a match. UEFA is doing literally the opposite of what you are saying, they were even suggesting that they will take away the matches from hosts who aren't letting any spectators in.

I find this drama completely ridiculous. Who the fuck cares if they have those colors on their uniforms, or that they are called "Russian team" or whatever. There most be more important matters to deal with, both regarding the Russian situation and regarding other important issues.

    • Here, the Masters is on national TV.  Are major golf tourneys in the USA shown in other places?   (I work at a private school that's just about an 80-minute drive from Augusta.  Many of my students are able to go watch the tournament in person.  I've never paid attention to golf until this year...it's a beautiful course!)

    • so, one of the most boring world cup stages ever has ended    if it wasn't for  and , winning 1 gold medal each, a  sweep would have come true, as they won all the remaining 8 gold medals (and a bunch of silver and bronze, too)    while some sports are brcoming more and more global, it looks that (rifle and pistol) shooting is going the other way round, it's becoming less and less global, with just 1 or 2 dominating Countries and a few others filling the (minor) gaps here and there, with always less Nations capable to win medals (only 12, out of 10 competitions) and even make the final    now the Rifle and Pistol world cup takes a break to allow most Continental championships to take place between the end of April and May.   It will be back in  Munich in the last week of May.   In the meantime, the Shotgun specialists will be on stage from May 2nd through May, 11th in  Almaty.
