The men’s road race at the 2018 Asian Games only had 58 entries (with a max of 4 riders per team), and that is still one of the most entertaining races I’ve watched. But road cycling is pretty much team effort. And how many riders from one NOC will be allowed to start? I believe not 5 or not even 4, like in Tokyo. That is not enough. I would like to watch a great race with majority of best riders. There are so many good e.g. Belgian or even French riders that 3-men teams are too small. 130 riders in Tokyo will be ok. In Rio there were 144. Cutting down to 90 is very disappointing.

dcro 10,189 Posted December 9, 2020 #937 Share Posted December 9, 2020 Mixed gender, mixed nationality team 50 km event? Guess Dunfee is out of loop, huh? Even the IOC has come to its senses in this regard and has scratched mixed-NOC events from future YOGs. thiago_simoes 1 #banbestmen
Dunadan 1,103 Posted December 9, 2020 #938 Share Posted December 9, 2020 I think Dunfee and other top racewalkers have been out of the loop for years. They knew their event was going to be cut, they should have tried to do everything they could in order to show that racewalking deserved one more event. What they did was continuing to oppose the introduction of any kind of technology that would have brought a bit more credibility to the judging and accepting to star in those ridiculous 1 km runner vs walker events. They should blame themselves before crying foul. thiago_simoes, dcro and Jur

hckošice 13,305 Posted December 9, 2020 #940 Share Posted December 9, 2020 and the first starts to sound loudly Jiří Prskavec the czech canoe Slalom K1 world champion already expressed his negative attitude towards the new Olympic event Kayak-Cross. according to him, the "extreme slalom" has not developed anywhere in the last four years "if there will be no extra quotas, the only athletes who will qualify will be obviously only canoe slalom specialists, the extreme slalom specialists who would be better in this will have to stay at home. So it will be just a sort of an extra discipline for us canoe slalomers, which we do not like or really practice."
