Welcome to the Veluwe

 

For TOISC 2020, we find ourselves on the Veluwe, located roughly in the middle of the Netherlands. The area is rich with forests and the wildlife one would expect to find there, especially deers and boars find a good home on the Veluwe. Apart from forests, there are other kinds of nature, as you'll have seen in the introductions so far and you can see in the following video:

Apeldoorn's biggest musical star

 

Apeldoorn is not a very big city and so there are not a whole lot of good artists coming out of this area. However, one singer has definitely made a rather good name for himself: Willem Bijkerk, better known as Waylon. In 2014 he got as close to winning the Eurovision Song Contest as a Dutch entry had been in a very long time, but together with Ilse DeLange he was beaten by a more....spectacular entry. A couple of years later Waylon finished in 18th position by himself, without a doubt the highest ranking ever for an Apeldoorn solo artist at the ESC!
