Cool :d

Although it sounds way too formal for my tasting, like it's the royal freaking family :p

Here it's mostly about enjoying the time, having fun and laughing a lot and nobody cares if person A or person B gets up to pick something :p

I see. well, he didn´t explained it correctly though, :d the thing is more about old pagan superstitions, it was believed that peoples have to stay on their places, it was believed that if someone else (than the designated person) left the table during the dinner, it would bring the misfortune and some of the family members present around the table would die over the year. :d

we had millions of similar weird superstitious things, the whole country adapted and are used more or less folklorically everywhere (in our family for example only my mom is allowed to quit the table during the dinner)  :d also the thing with the extra plate is not exactly a memoration of deceased peoples or family members not able to came for the dinner, yes, partially yes, but it is mainly a extra plate and chair you have to prepare for a special and unexpected guest, it was common that if a stranger (friend or enemy) has knocked on your door the christmas evening, you had to invite him to dinner and feed him...

I would use this extra plate when one dish made my plate dirty, so I can eat the next dish from a clean plate :p

Merry Virgin-Birth or Capitalism Day or Tuesday (depending on what you believe in)!

My first Christmas on here has been pretty good.

Happy Holidays to all! (even @heywoodu who refuses to acknowledge my adulthood)

Merry Christmas to all users who celebrate today, have a great day!

I am interested in world holidays, if you have time, write what kind of food is prepared today, are there any rituals performed, etc. Thanks

Question for Italians, do you lit candle on this day?

Most families in America get up between 5-7 AM to up presents, though some open up one present each the night before. The food prepared in my family is ham, turkey, assorted potato dishes, chocolates, and other candies. My family has coffee and homemade (from a box) cinnamon rolls. Some American Midwest families hide a pickle and the first person to find it gets an extra present. Many families listen to Christmas music and go look at Christmas lights. My family will play games later tonight.

I you have any other questions, I’d be glad to answer @DaniSRB

This year I am spending my Christmas in the USA as well, for the first time of my life :) I am in NYC where my aunt and cousins live.

    • WWE introduced two new Women's Championship belts. The first one introduced was the Women's United States Championship and not shortly after that the Women's Intercontinental Championship. The Women's US Title will be exclusive to SmackDown and the Women's IC Title will be exclusive to RAW.

    • Greece and Portugal also have winter sports centres - but of course these are not homologated routes for World Cup competitions I have never been to Albania personally, so I don't know the country at all. I have been in southern Croatia, though, and there are mountains there but you definitely can't ski there (I was there in the summer, but it's also impossible in the winter). World cup taking place there only in Zagreb.    In general the case of Colturi and Kostelic is completely different: Colturi has no ties to Albania and Janica Kostelic was Croatian and didn't left their country even though at the beginning of her carrier (and also her brother Ivica) her father had to pay for everything and the federation's support was zero. This only changed later. I imagine that the Kostelic family had offers from other countries (Austria, Switzerland, Italy?) to compete for them, which were much richer (at the beginning of the 21st century Croatia was a very poor country and devastated by war). All the more respect for them because they were true Croatian patriots until the end. I can imagine the Colturi family in a similar situation... Her mother would probably negotiate with half of Alpine Europe for Lara to compete for them Which of course doesn't change the fact that the Italian federation completely gave a shit in this situation. They let such talent go in a situation where they hasn`t a single female athlete on the podium of the World Cup in slalom for a dozen or so years. In the giant slalom it's not much better either, only there the older athletes cloud the picture: Brignone and Bassino. However, behind these two there is absolutely nothing...
    • Atalanta is probably playing the most beautiful football in Europe right now: spectacular and effective. It's nice to watch and they don't have to spend a lot of money for it.   Inter is playing very economically. It's not impressive but it's consistently collecting points. It's also the only team in the Champions League that hasn't conceded a goal this season.   Milan played very poorly yesterday but they won. They have 9 points and are close to qualifying for the play-offs.

Suns (maybe not…) 9:00 PM: FIS Freestyle Skiing Big Air WC Beijing    Confused because CBC Sports says it starts a hour later than on the FIS site? Probably will watch some luge in between.    Sunday (December 1) 12:00 or 1:00 AM: ISU Speed Skating WC Beijing - Day 3 (two screens, lesser priority) 12:30 AM: FIL Luge WC Lillehammer - Men’s Singles 2:00 AM: FIS Snowboarding Big Air WC Beijing  8:00 AM: GSOC Kioti National - Women’s Final 9:30 AM: NHL - Canucks v. Red Wings (… seriously, I don’t have the energy to be watching NHL games at 9am) 12:30 PM: GSOC Kioti National - Men’s Final 5:20 PM: NFL - Bills v. 49ers   Monday (December 2) … absolutely nothing    Tuesday (December 3) 5:00 PM: NHL - Canucks v. Wild 7:00 PM: NBA - Warriors v. Nuggets (split screen, but hoping it gets delayed due to another game going to OT or ending late)   Wednesday (December 4) 2:00 AM: BPT Finals Doha - Day 1
