The men's 2020 Olympic tournament had that.

 

The women's football tournament was also scheduled like that until Canada and Sweden requested a change (also helped that the United States didn't make the final ).

if they want the GMM in the early morning (LA time), why they don't do like in the Softball tournament?

 

just have BMM and GMM in 2 different, consecutive days (with a 6-team tournament there's a lot of time to organize the schedule properly)

 

it would benefit the teams playing for gold, having an extra-day rest before the decisive act

I used the session calendar along with several of your comments + schedules from previous Olympics to put together this daily calendar, which includes my best guess as to what events will be happening each day, in order each day.  Now those of you who want to plan out the countless hours of TV you'll be watching in three years can do so.  :D

 

All times are in LA Local Time (GMT-7).

If you see any potential mistakes, please let me know.  I am not positive on the Equestrian schedule.

some early thoughts

 

i Think day -2 is M football (6 matches) and day -1 is W football (8 matches) and so on…

 

Maybe Day 1 is W triathlon ( the session lasts longer) and day 2 is M triathlon …

I agree with both and have made the changes.  I don't know about Day 7 and 8 football matches.  There's 4 per day.  Some sort of play-in for both?  Or one more round for W?

Days 7 and 8 are quarterfinals I think.

 

Days 10 and 11 are semis.
