it's because they want a few days break between Wimbledon and the start of the Olympic tournament

 

however, it's the stint between Wimbledon and the US campaign, when only minor clay championships (Gstaad, Baastad, Kitz 250) are played by low ranking/surface specialists

 

actually, the Olympic tournament could be a good warm-up for the US hardcourt season

so 3 groups of 4 like in basketball and volleyball renewed in 2028?

If i am right road cycling and archetyp are re-scheduled too, so yes, i think that it seems as good schedule. I was worried about it when i read that athletics must be in 1st week.

But tennis medal match in 2nd day? It seems as US open shit exhibition format :-(

Yes, they have an opening ceremony on Bastille Day so it's hard to believe Tour riders would be there for ITT. Even road race may be without them. That's bad

The ITF has confirmed that mixed doubles will be the mixed tennis event on the schedule (as it has been since London 2012) and that the mixed doubles final is the one on the second day of the tennis program. This all but confirms that they will be using the US Open mixed doubles format.

What about the schedule of FIH-hockey?

There are 17 days of competition, but they only need 16 days. 10 days (6 matches in 2 sessions) of group plays and 6 days with quarter-, semi- and finals.

I enjoy the time trial so this is troubling, many great cyclists just may not take part.
