Hopefully they will change the apparatuses. I don't think both the men and women should compete in floor just so we can have some variety.

I'd rather have PH, PB, HB for men and UB, BB, FE for women.

I don’t get why gymnasts are required to compete on specific apparatuses. Why not let them perform on all of them during qualification, then simply total their top three scores? That would give a fair snapshot of their strengths. In the elimination rounds, let each gymnast choose which apparatus to perform on, just once per apparatus. Simple, strategic, and far less complicated.

But that's what happens, right? The gymnasts can choose their apparatus on the R16, then on the R8 and finally on the final. I loved it, super strategic.

The problem is that it is impossible to have 9 apparatus happening at the same time, so that's why they had to choose...

later on, the men's All-Around competition

Sadly, Germany's big talent Helen Kevric had a nasty fall on the Vault and probably injured her knee. She had to be carried out of the hall.

If the lights light up exactly at the correct moment, he was definitely first, since his light went on first. Not sure if those lights are 100% accurate though?

It's actually feasible, but of course that would be demanding and I don't think anyone would seriously consider setting up the stage for this when only one set of medals is awarded.

However, not allowing gymnasts to compete on the apparatus they want all the way is unfair and it kind of makes the whole thing seem pointless (I mean, even more pointless than it already is).

There is just no way to make a fair format for a mixed gymnastics team event. I've already resigned myself to the fact it will be a compeltly BS event.

I mean, in rhythmic gymnastics they rotate between the apparatus in the group events every four years. There's nothing stopping FIG from selecting which apparatus will be performed on years in advance.

With that said, I greatly dislike the IOC adding non-existing events. Let it develop at the World Championship/Cup level before adding it to the games.

    • this is not funny at all, pal
    • I think I can live with the draw , not a bad group at all. just a week ago our mafia coach said his dream group is Belgium, Egypt and Haiti, he almost got that !   but it's really hard for me (and so many others) to cheer for this team, A mafia boss coach, disgusting group of players. I never had this feeling about any NT in any sport before but still the national team is the national team. you have to like it  coaches and players come and go, the team is what matters.   if the team makes it to the competition, I'm sure there will be lots of Iranians in the stadium despite the orange's ban, that will never be a problem.
