Rose safely on the green...

McIlroy with the shorter putt.

Rose misses, down in 4 - shot for the win for Mcilroy.

Gets it.  :p

Well, not going to make a habit of this.

Career grand slam and first major win in over ten years for :NIR McIlroy. Way to cement his legacy.

Did not realize that even greats like Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson and Greg Norman do not have the Career Slam.

Two of those were close.  Palmer was second three times at the PGA Championship and won the other 3, Watson was second once at the PGA Championshp and won the other 3. Norman only ever won the Open (Twice) but was second multiple times at each of the other 3.

Back in their era Golf was a bit less predictable than it now where it’s no longer surprising if someone wins a tournament one year and finishes 40th or something the next. (As the 2023 winner Jon Rahm did last year) If someone does that in any other sport it’s still rather surprising. (Even in tennis).

Here’s hoping he can be the first person in history to make the Golden Slam in golf by winning Olympic gold in LA!

Nor Seve, Nor Faldo, No Phil

Watson, like Faldo was one of those who ran up good numbers in certain majors without coming close in one of them - he had one 5th in the PGA, and that was it - but absolutely bossed the Open - 5 wis in 9 years

Rather rowdy crowds yesterday for the fourballs, even by Ryder Cup standards.

Don't know if it's the standings or Rory's "Shut the f* up", but the Americans certainly seems much quiter today! :p

    • I think I can live with the draw , not a bad group at all. just a week ago our mafia coach said his dream group is Belgium, Egypt and Haiti, he almost got that !   but it's really hard for me (and so many others) to cheer for this team, A mafia boss coach, disgusting group of players. I never had this feeling about any NT in any sport before but still the national team is the national team. you have to like it  coaches and players come and go, the team is what matters.   if the team makes it to the competition, I'm sure there will be lots of Iranians in the stadium despite the orange's ban, that will never be a problem.
    • Belgium is the luckiest in this story
    • One of the worst possible draw for us. Group really easy but having to face  or  in the Round of 32 is devastating.
