Another Olympic Champion will miss the Ch after an injury and he was one of italian biggest medal chances. Massimo Stano is out :(

I'm starting to worry if we'll even win a medal? Fabbri isn't as consistent as last year... Iapichino and Furlani are a lottery: they could win or finish outside the top eight. Andy Diaz also had a long injury recovery. What do you think?

An absolute disgrace, Stano was Italy's best chance at a gold medal (perhaps the only actual chance, actually; everyone else would need a major underperformance by someone else).

Fabbri has a chance without Crouser and Kovacs, but he needs to stabilize at last year's level. I'd be happy with 3-4 medals, like in 2023. Unfortunately, we're still not a powerhouse in Athletics and winning the European Team Cup won't change that. It seemed some years ago, that Athletics would soon overtake swimming, but that's not the case: swimming has rebuilt and Athletics is still at a similar level (without Tokio 2021 Olympics). Back to Stano: he has been injuried since 2022, always before the main events of the season. Unfortunately, in my opinion, this isn't a coincidence. Why is he preparing for top form in the spring when he has nothing important, but to suffer further injuries later?

Well, last year's injury was just (an insane amount of) bad luck.

As far as Fabbri is concerned, it is true he has a chance, but like you said, he is very inconsistent this year. I would add that the approach to the competition will be very hard for him, after what happened last year in Paris.

Also, Kovacs may still make it to Tokyo if he wins the Diamond League final in Zurich (he is the favourite in my opinion).

Not sure that's right - Ryan Crouser already has wildcard as defending champion so winning the DL final wouldn't make any difference for Kovacs unless Crouser's injury prevents him from trying to defend his title

Yeah, there is no double-dipping - 4 per nation per event is the maximum.

This is 100% correct, I was assuming Crouser won’t show up, I should have made it clear.

The First Draft of the British team.  Obviously there will be a bit of reshuffling after negotiations with WA.

I believe all those provisional will have their invites accepted if they get one. I might be wrong but athletes think anyone announced today who misses out will be because they didn’t get an invite,
