Athletics WA World Championships 2025

Recommended Posts

We are continuing our journey to hit rock bottom in this sport, as team Bulgaria will be consisting of 4 athletes at these Worlds:

Bozhidar Saraboyukov (men's long jump);

Tihomir Ivanov (men's high jump);

Plamena Mitkova (women's long jump);

Gabriela Petrova (women's triple jump).

Can't wait in 2-3 editions, when we will have 1 man and 1 woman like the universality nations :thumbup:

How many medals can this do? 2-3?

I think no more then that.

Medals in High Jump (W) and Hummer Throw (M) will not be a surprise.

One more may come from High Jump (M), Javelin Throw (M) or the second medallist in High Jump (W). This one are less likely to happen.

I would rather believe in Olyanovska than in Felfner; unfortunately, he's not that good this season and has downgraded. Unlike Liudmyla, who last time during the Asian WCh won a medal (although after that next year she got disqualified, I don't want this to happen)

That was a great moment - when she won that medal. But the field may be too strong for her now, in my oppinion.

It looks like Felfner tried something different this year.  He looks focused on the WCH. So I am trying to be oprimistic about his chances - if this new approach works. But of couurse, his medal will be a great surprise.

By the way, I am still curious about our pole vault athletes - it looks like their potential is seriousely measured by the equipment they have. Do you agree?

Pole vaulting is an interesting discipline because besides top-2 Mondo and Manolo, everyone else was unstable. It would be great for Onufriev to qualify for the final, but for now I don't see that. Maybe his girlfriend will, because Maryna nearly won a medal at the 2020 Olympics and stunned at European Team Championship this year

    • I hope they can kick teqball and convince the North Koreans to play the real deal  (very unlikely, I know(   Obstacle racing on the other hand, it should be a compulsory sport of the ABG
    • Lasting 2 Weeks and including 24 sports    I bet Beach Sepaktakraw(including their favourite Chinlone, Hoop), Water Skiing, Arnis, Floorball, Wushu, Weightlifting, Taekwondo, Underwater Hockey, Boxing and a few martial arts (Kickboxing/Muay Thai etc)   Obstacle Racing also should make the cut.
    • Oops. I must have misunderstood. I could have sworn I saw her jogging in a field of other men. I assumed she had caught up to some of the slower men. (I admittedly wasn't watching closely.)
    • The women started earlier, it was a race without any men participating.
    • Looking forward to this competition starting tomorrow! Will be nice to see some other countries participate. USA women start with Namibia tomorrow.
    • This came out on the official website yesterday. Updated list of events and competition schedules in Japanese.   Padel and Teqball are on the schedules. Looks like two events for Padel and five for Teqball.   https://www.aichi-nagoya2026.org/files/common/260427競技スケジュール/01_日本語/01_アジア/第20回アジア競技大会競技プログラム.pdf   https://www.aichi-nagoya2026.org/files/common/260427競技スケジュール/01_日本語/01_アジア/第20回アジア競技大会デイリースケジュール.pdf   https://www.aichi-nagoya2026.org/files/common/260427競技スケジュール/01_日本語/01_アジア/第20回アジア競技大会セッションスケジュール.pdf   On the sports programme PDF, Padel is #25 and Teqball is #38.
    • looks like the agreement is the international federations are in fact hosting the event, not the AG organizers, so everything is up to them to make it happen.   Teqball is now confirmed to have 5 events (singles and doubles) does it mean easy 5 gold medals for Thailand ?   Padel is not 100% confirmed yet. I assume there are still talks ongoing between the IF and the Japanese organizers.
    • I feel like this year's Eurovision is more wide open than ever 😂   There isn't a clear favorite, and that makes everything more exciting. Finland is looking strong, sure, but Ukraine always knows how to surprise people and connect with them. I was checking out the odds a bit, and I was struck by how quickly they're rising.   By the way, I found a site that compares the odds pretty clearly: https://casasdeapuestaseurovision.com/   It’s nothing special, but it gives you an idea of how things are shaping up before the semifinals. Although we all know how this goes… at Eurovision, everything can change in a matter of minutes
