Swimming at the Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024

Recommended Posts

4 events left in swimming tomorrow:

- Women's 50 metre freestyle (favorite :SWE Sarah Sjöström)

- Women's 4 × 100 metre medley relay (favorite :AUS Australia)

- Men's 4 × 100 metre medley relay (favorite :FRA France)

- Men's 1500 metre freestyle (favorite :IRL Daniel Wiffen)

As Australia is still leading the rankings with 7 gold medals, it can be assumed that for the first time since 1956, Australia will finish at the top of the swimming rankings (and for the first time on foreign soil). Well done :AUS !

a) Australia is the favorite in women’s medley relay? I think the U.S. is the favorite.

b) France is the favorite in men’s medley relay? I think the U.S. is the favorite there as well, but France could fight for a medal.

Overall good results for Germany. The first 5 days were very good, the last 4 days rather abysmal. Could have been 4-6 top 8 finishes more. 17 top 8 finishes is still more than at the last two Olympics combined (15). There are still huge holes in this team, especially on the women’s side. Hopefully the team will continue on this path, although it will be more difficult to perform outside of Europe. My dream would be to have at least one competitive athlete in every event, but at the moment that doesn’t seem realistic. It would be a welcome surprise to see someone qualify in men’s 200 breast/men’s 200 fly/men‘s 200 IM/women‘s 50 free/women‘s 100 free/women‘s 100 breast/women‘s 200 breast/women‘s 200 fly/women‘s 100 back/women‘s 200 back/women‘s 200 IM/women‘s 400 IM.

Where are you getting these favourites from? :d

United States are the favourites in both medley relays.

This makes it 8 Olympics in a row, that the women's 200 and 400 individual medley have the same swimmer winning gold.

First Canadian man to win multiple swimming medals since Curtis Myden in 1996, incredible!

(Thanks to @orangeman for doing the research, I just thought I’d share it here)
