[OFF TOPIC] Eurovision Song Contest 2024

Recommended Posts

It's mostly just fun to see the thing of people hating either the jury voting or the televoting :d

Of course those things are going to be different. This year the Netherlands would have been a good example: probably very, very low in jury points (around 20th or so I assume), but super high in televotes (top-5 at least). And it shouldn't be fully jury or fully televotes, it doesn't matter if 'the peoples favourite' didn't win, because the whole contest is not explicitly about finding 'the peoples favourite'.

I wonder if some artists withdrew in last minute from the show acts of the final because I think the semi final productions were much better. A bit dissapointed as I ignored watching the songs and only watched the show acts and voting

Wouldn't expect you of all people to say 'he' and 'him' about someone who is self-described as non-binary :p

It was a long day. We all make mistakes sometimes.

After sleeping it over, i think i'm ready to change my opinion on yesterday.

The protesters should have stormed the building, fought with the police, caused riots, that would have cancelled the contest and disgraced the EFU. It would have been a much better outcome.

He seems like a pretty nice person from the what I’ve read/seen. What don’t you like about him?

He just comes across as very fake to me. He was also one of the ones who bullied the Israeli girl.

Viewing this as an outsider I confess that I am somewhat bewildered why this event is so popular especially with people here.

It's full of music that no one would ever pay money for (admittedly there have been good songs in the distant past) and its greatest fans are either teenage girls or   members of the LGBTQIA+ community (not that there's anything wrong with that)

Guess it's a European thing

I think that Germany and Great Britain are always eyeing Italy and France and thinking why are they different and why do the juries and televoters enjoy them, whilst rarely showing any appreciation towards GB or GER :d

Of course, GB saw what works after Sam Ryder last year and I think that they did have good intentions with sending Olly. I think one problem with some Eurovision artists is when you make your sexuality your entire identity and it leaks out into the performance as well. I don't really recognise the Years & Years Olly nowadays, seems like an entirely different person. Only his voice sounds similarly at some points.

11th place for us in the end was disappointing, I didn't really expect to finish outside the top 10 (thanks juries ) and I'm not sure where we go from here, because Marina is pretty big in Greece and many Greeks (including myself) always thought she'd be perfect for Eurovision. We haven't reached the top 5 since 2008 (although we've been in the top 10 many times since then). It's also weird to think that Stefania (2021) and Amanda (2022) got Greece in the top 10 but not Marina considering the hype she had how unique she was and how heavily favoured she was in the odds to finish around 5th-8th or so.

It was that horrendous diaper skirt she wore, hahaha, sorry, just a joke, but the outfit was not good. I enjoyed the song since I first heard it, I placed it in my top 9.
