Why are people sitting during the anthem ? :yikes:

Yeah, it's weird.

But I can't really remember Algeria hosting an international event like this (?). Maybe it's just a little lack of the collective spectator experience.

I don´t know, Algeria organize regularly several international events, mainly various African championships but also global events like fencing world cup or so.. from what I remember people were always standing during the anthems, Perhaps people in Algiers are more used to such events. :dunno:

Anyway, I remember the same happened many times also during Rio  Olympics, when you´ll rewatch some competitions from Rio you´ll see plenty of local (I assume based on most of them were wearing BRA football jerseys :p) just sitting on their seats or jumping and waving to the cameras like morons during the anthem. That was definitely one of the most disappointing experience I had from otherwise generally amazing and very goodly organized olympics there.

More bad news coming through...

Gymnasts themselves still don't know how they ranked in the qualifications. Results are nowhere to be found. They only found out who is going through to the apparatus finals once someone released the start lists (but again, results themselves are still missing).

I didn't, but I never feel earthquakes :d I have never felt one in my life. Other people felt it and it looks like the athlete on the Balance Beam was shaking as well.

She is here in the hall now, but I have not seen her yesterday during the competition so I guess they close her somewhere to avoid her to go in the competition field during the competition

you're lucky...I've felt very few of them in my life (and originated quite far away from my location), but I was always really scared...

I just can't imagine what would happen if I were in the middle of one big earthquake...most likely, I'd die because of an heart attack...:yikes:

    • Interesting, for only 2 months i think i have seen some kind of coin from all of the big countries - Germany, Italy, Spain, Holland, France, Portugal, Belgium, Finland, Ireland and yes the 2 euro from Croatia. But some of them were the smaller ones, 10, 5, 2 cents.    Expectedly there aren't any from the smaller countries so far. Nothing from the Baltics, Cyprus, Slovenia, Malta, Andorra etc. But also a bit surprising i haven't seen any from Greece yet.    Don't know from what part of Italy are you, but it's safe to say that when summer hits there will be a lot of Bulgarians visiting Rome, so i'm sure they'll bring some of our coins to spread around.
    • I choose to collect only coins in circulation (and I have also found coins in circulation that should not be on the market; you can find a bit of everything). From my experience, it takes 4-5 years for coins to reach southern Italy, so I have no idea how it will work in Bulgaria. Incidentally, I am curious to see when I will see my first Bulgarian coin. I have not yet seen a Croatian coin (introduced in 2023!).
    • Yes, i saw that there are a lot of commemorative coins. But to get some of those, i would need to buy them, as i don't know how much of them are in circulation. And the chances of such making it to Bulgaria are rather slim.    Still, if i find some sports ones on a good price, maybe i will order a few.

    • Have you already started looking for the hundreds of commemorative 2 euro coins? There are loads of them, including sports-themed ones.
    • Don't know if someone else is collecting Euro coins, but since we joined the zone it's been fun looking at what you can get.    It took only 2 months, but today i finally got my first Slovakian coin.  @hckošice
