- One bronze in M Modern Pentathlon (2 Olympics Quotas, one per gender in this, Big hat off especially for the 16 years old María Sol Naranjo, who became the youngest :ECU athlete to qualify for Paris 2024 now)

- Huge disater for Tamara Salazar, with a Lumbar injury forced the reigning Olympic silver medalist to leave the Weightlifting -81kg competition before her first attempt and resulted in a heartbroken imediate transport to the near Hospital... Fingers crossed that everything will end well

- but also a secured medal in M 92kg Boxing thanks Julio Castillo win in the quarterfinal this Monday

This has been a thing for a while. 2023 was suppose to be the Olympic program plus a couple of extra sports. Ultimately it ended up with only bodybuilding (which was added in 2019) missing out.

 

I think what will happen is the host must include the Olympic program and the other sports are optional. The good news for the non-Olympic sports is they are relatively cheap to host. Baseball/Softball is obviously expensive, but after that roller sports would be the next most expensive sport.

Don't know if the hosts have any saying in this, but if the Games are hosted by Brazil in the near future, we probably would get rid of many non-Olympic sports.

I wonder if cricket will be held in Colombia?
