I remember him being an assistant coach in the Croatian league 7-8 years ago, didn't really follow him since then.

Pao have gone public that they want to leave the Euroleague. If this happens it will be huge. FIBA had already attracted a few of the regular smaller teams in the Eurocup, but this is the first major, major club that says, they want to leave the Bertomeu Cups. This could be a potential big shift for FIBA to take back control of continental basketball in Europe after 20 years.

naaa...Greek clubs (and Maccabi tel Aviv) already were on FIBA's side when they tried to run their old format's Champions League attempt in direct competition against Euroleague...

it was such a flop in terms of revenues that they quickly joined Euroleague...

they're only trying to get more money and more guarantees to be part of the Euroleague even if they leave the Greek championship from Bartomeu, but they know there's no way to change Euroleague's supremacy and if they leave it, it's only because they don't want to invest big money in Basketball anymore...

Not sure if this was brought up anywhere, but the Women's world cup has been reduced to 12 teams moving forward.

I don’t think it has. What’s the reasoning on that?

FIBA did not comment on it, except saying it will give teams more opportunities, which ofc is not true lol

they will never admit that, but the sad truth is that women's World Cup has no good tv ratings (actually, has very bad exposure around the world, especially in Europe) and organizing a big tournament with many teams is very expensive, so expensive that's very complicated to find a place that really wants to host it...

therefore, it's better for FIBA to cut the field to just 12 teams, so to be able to organize future tournaments in just 1 location and even a single arena...and save a lot of money...

covid-19 has hit hard...I fear we're going to see many decisions like this one in many disciplines (less stages in the multi-stage world cups, smaller world cup final tournaments and so on)...

gender equality , 12 = 32

it's funny how IOC insists on gender equality, and they think they did everything by just having equal number of events/teams at the Olympics !
