Okay, back to our regular programming with a Hungarian disaster, 3 out of 4 of our women's sabre fencers are out in the R64. And Pusztai will have a really hard task against Apithy-Brunet in the R32. Something needs to be done here because our qualification chances in women's sabre are plummeting.

wow! I didn't watch the men's foil draw that carefully...but it's a complete disaster for    

 

Marini and Macchi are set to face each other in the round of 16  

 

and they're in the same half of the draw with Garozzo (who has a potential quarterfinal vs the reigning world champion  Lefort before a -very- theoretical all Italian semifinal)

 

by the way,  Gerek Meinhardt is the first big name to leave the tournament early: he lost against  Heo Jun by a score of 15-11 in the round of 64

Hopefully  Kristjan Archer can take advantage of his departure and progress to round of 16 (but I won't hold my breath)

It looks like  is winning their match against  and with that they are almost certainly winning the African quota in women's epee.
