The thing is Philipsen always does this. But if nobody falls, there is no punishment, whereas a less dangerous move resulting in a mostly unfortunate fall often does lead to punishments. There is no consistency in the decisions whatsoever.

Bad luck day for :GBR - Cavendish crashes out, now Simon Yates crashes just as the sprint run-in hits full speed but well outside the 3k limit.

A hundred bucks, that Cavendish cancels his retirement now, or they retroactively give him the win from yesterday. It would be too good, if he goes out without breaking Merckx's record.

Unironically Ineos should sign him. Give him a very lax plan for next season, only riding a few races here and there. Then bring him to the tour.
