The competition starts tomorrow. 1st day brackets are out

http://www.worldtaekwondo.org/competition/view.html?nid=140001&mcd=C10&sc=in

our team made it to Baku at the end. for few days they were afraid that there will be more doping cases in the team and the whole team is probably contaminated, they were almost ready to send everybody home but no more news "so far" and they traveled to Baku.

maybe those two kids (happened to be roommates) took something or ate something together. :dunno: I guess we will never know

Bit of a shocker for Skylar Park in her round of 16 match - it looked like she'd done enough in the last few seconds of the second round to level the match but the video replay went against her.

Disappointing result for :GBR Jade Jones. In a few of her recent competitions, she hasn't shown the kind of consistency that we are used to seeing with her.

I still expect her to qualify for Paris but not sure that she will be getting the same level of hype from the BBC this time around (which may actually end up working in her favour)

Bradley Sinden on the other hand, just keeps going on about his business.

@phelps Uh, I need an explanation because :HUN Luana Márton became a World Champion at the age of 17 in an Olympic weight class

What. The. Fuck. This came out of nowhere. First ever Hungarian gold in a women's events at the Taekwondo Worlds. And we just had our first ever gold last year thanks to Omar Salim. Crazy stuff happening in Hungarian taekwondo, we didn't even have a single Olympic quota for 20 years and now we are winning gold medals at the WCh.

so what doesn AIN stand for , i know it's Russian Athletes participating , but i'm curious to know what does this abbreviation mean :d

it's for Independent Neutral Athletes, but since INA is already the Indonesian global signature, they used the French version of the signature, which is AIN

    • Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.
    • Marian Kasprzyk (boxing) - 1964 Olympic Champion & 1960 bronze medallist passed away at the age of 86.

    • Off to Milan for the 145th session of the International Olympic Committee. Although the agenda has not been published yet, there shouldn’t be any major items over these two days, apart from the election of a member of the IOC Executive Board. This will be the eighth time the session is held in Italy, the last one being during the Turin 2006 Olympic Games.

    • What is happening in Canada , people leave it  They say life is very expensive , you cant find an appartement , the salary is miserable    is it the multi tax of Trump?
    • Weightlifting We now have six events per gender with a total of 10 athletes per event.   The Olympic Qualification Rankings will be based on the sum of the total results of five events (three from period 1 and two from period 2). The top 8 will qualify.   The 9th spot will also be based on the OQR, but it will go to the highest ranked athlete from an unrepresented continent.   The 10th spot will be split between the host and universality (3 each per gender). Should the United States qualify normally then their host quota will be reduced, first going to an athlete from an unrepresented continent then to the overall highest ranked athlete.   Additionally, a "Best Lifter" will be awarded which would give the nation the chance to qualify 4 athletes rather than the max of 3.
