Quick look there. Only one of the 14 events didn’t have a non-European finalist last time out (men’s single) but it did have 3 of the 12 semi finalists from outside Europe (Brazil, Canada & Japan)

Please do list them.

I don't plan to waste my time on that. But yeah even with the non Eueopean explaination given it's still way below par sport.

Maybe cricket can call itself to be more competitive globally even if you remove expat countries from the list.

Rowing has to be one of the least competitive sports to be part of Olympics. Europeans might not like it but yeah it should be cut down to just 4 or 5 events per gender.  Surely over 100 non Olympic sports exist which have a more competitive field than rowing.

Easy enough sport to compete in. All you need is a reasonably flat lake & some not-very expensive boats.

I think you are glossing over that the lake/water area needs to be at least 2km long. It's one of those sports that is either very cheap or very expensive to host

Think I read somewhere that the course for LA2028 is only going to be 1500m

For international competition, sure, but here in Britain we have historic rowing clubs on some very oddly shaped bits of water.

Should Hockey have been thrown out of the Olympics when India won it every 4 years. How about Diving? 7 out of 8 Gold for China or Table Tennis? 4 out of 5 Golds for China?

Don't waste your precious time

If the lights light up exactly at the correct moment, he was definitely first, since his light went on first. Not sure if those lights are 100% accurate though?

Yes, that is the current plan. It’s the same venue as 1932, but the city (Long Beach) built a road bridge over the later part of the course.

And of course the IOC are going to take the $$$$ rather than defend the integrity of the sport.

    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
