I live in Joinville. It rains so much there that people call the city Chuville (chuva = rain in Portuguese). I miss Rio so much.

so I consider 4 quotas for each relay? will everyone agree?

Expand

For each relay qualified, a nation may enter up to two relay-only athletes (up to a max of 12 athletes)

Quite happy for Hong Kong women for getting a quota.

Very sad for Canadian men for failing, finishing in 13th. Our men's team is so weak now.

"Our men's team is so weak" could be said about practically every Olympic sport for Canada :d

Good enough day for Team GB

-Proud through in Butterfly

-Literal god Adam Peaty (WR) and Wilby through in Breaststroke

As now we come across the world
To share these Games of old
Let all the flags of every land
In brotherhood unfold

I think the men's athletics team is stronger than the women's. At least in terms of medal prospects.

Very weak level apart from Sjöstrom and MacNeil, this could be a huge chance for girls like Di Liddo and Wattel. Next year Ikee and Oleksiak will hopefully be back + Shkurdai will be 56 low by then hopefully.

Ikee I really doubt will swim anymore (at competitive level, at least)...

I don't know exactly what type of leukemia she got and how her treatment is going, but we can say she's lucky if she can have a decent life for the next few years...

returning to competitive sport is not impossible, but highly unlikely...

however, I wish her the best and I hope she can beat that fuc*in' disease...:fingers:

Everyone who considers himself as a sports fan must get sick seeing that cheater winning and celebrating like that. What a shame! 10 of 10 points on the Efimova scale!

Hopefully they'll send them into a lifetime ban in September, so that we don't have to witness such a disgrace in Tokyo.

I completely support Horton’s actions in the podium. There are rare times when an athlete can just upset me in a way I hate, but Sun Yang is at the top of that list.

    • Yeah, we have such a strong crop of Juniors, that we can’t take them all. They all have exciting trajectories but to predict what Junior swimmers will is always difficult. Better to let them all swim together at Juniors than rocketing them all up to seniors and swimming a prelim and going home.
    • Hanlon is the most unlucky, in my opinion. Aside from relay cover, she's the 50m champ and they made a point of including consideration for those events being in LA for the other discretionary picks. Essentially she has the same case for selection as Max Morgan (albeit without the trajectory right now).   Blocksidge's form was way off this week (compared to her previous bests). Obviously being still young you could put that down to relative inexperience. Still, she has World and European Juniors that she could still be selected for this summer. There's an argument that performing well at those might be as beneficial as going to Singapore.   That said, I'm happy that they did take a bunch of discretionary picks. That's not always been the case.
