That's a real pessimistic guess, surely there is more?

No, it's not pessimistic is the hard reality of 6 years of poor planning and continuity followed by 6 months of even bigger robbery of the new "leftist" administration.

Just read my last post in the fencing thread... that poor girl was falsely accused of doping, then every tribunal and sports authority didn't back her claims, which were even supported by evidence from a lab in Germany.

The only representative in Congress that has raised his voice to question the recent scandals in our swimming fed has been threatened by FINA itself due to "interference" and the president is trying to split our best synchro pair.

Our "best" race walker was caught doping and their defense was all fabricated, and there isn't any other athlete that has real chances to medal.

Pro Clubs in the Mexican Football League couldn't bother to let the best U23 players to attend Pan Am Games, because they're more concerned with the box office of a secondary pityful tournament.

Tae Kwon Do federation is under the radar of the government because it has been fabricating receipts to cover their expenses.

Archery federation dismissed their Korean archers, and look at the disaster at World Championships.

So it's a bleak picture what lies ahead.

I am curious about Zanetti. Wasnt he favorite for gold before Rio? :mumble:

Not really. He didn't even qualify for the rings final at the 2015 World Championships. Petrounias was on fire and he was the clear favorite for the gold medal in 2016. I hope neither Zanetti nor Petrounias win the gold medal in 2020, though. We have new specialists arising and it's important to have variety among the champions.

Gymnastics - Artistic - well it’s hard to predict, we have a chance if women’s team qualify, Iordache is back and with Golgota and our juniors Sfiringu and Stanciulescu we can make it. If we qualify i think we can win at least 1 medal if not I hope Iordache to have a great comeback.

No chance in hell. I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but a team medal is impossible (I strongly believe Romania will not even qualify a women's team).

I'm expecting a good result from Brazil in next Olympic Games. Although this is going to be a hard task after the Olympics at home, we can win some important medals on new sports like Karate, Surfing and Skateboarding. Brazil's desire is finish the games at top 10 on medal table.

Thanks.

I actually started to like Arturo in 2012 when he was flawless. His performance was something perfect. After that i watched WC and up until Rio, that was it.

Elefterios was perfect back in Rio, but before start i somehow hoped for another gold for Zanetti.

I like rings the most so i will observe it closely this time.

Yes, for this we have to win many gold medals. Probably, it is not going to happen,

Well, yeah the hardest part is to qualify for Olympics but I have faith. Golgota, Crisan, Holbura, Ghiciuc, Iordache, Cimpian, Puiu can make it

I have been in southern Croatia, though, and there are mountains there but you definitely can't ski there (I was there in the summer, but it's also impossible in the winter). World cup taking place there only in Zagreb.    In general the case of Colturi and Kostelic is completely different: Colturi has no ties to Albania and Janica Kostelic was Croatian and didn't left their country even though at the beginning of her carrier (and also her brother Ivica) her father had to pay for everything and the federation's support was zero. This only changed later. I imagine that the Kostelic family had offers from other countries (Austria, Switzerland, Italy?) to compete for them, which were much richer (at the beginning of the 21st century Croatia was a very poor country and devastated by war). All the more respect for them because they were true Croatian patriots until the end. I can imagine the Colturi family in a similar situation... Her mother would probably negotiate with half of Alpine Europe for Lara to compete for them Which of course doesn't change the fact that the Italian federation completely gave a shit in this situation. They let such talent go in a situation where they hasn`t a single female athlete on the podium of the World Cup in slalom for a dozen or so years. In the giant slalom it's not much better either, only there the older athletes cloud the picture: Brignone and Bassino. However, behind these two there is absolutely nothing...
