Was it beautiful? Yes. Was the filming technically brilliant? Yes. Was the acting good? It wasn’t bad. Was the story entertaining? Yes/No. Was there a lack of greater significance? Yes. Was the plot as hard hitting as other WW1/WW2 movies? Yes/No. Did it leave me wanting more? Yes/No. Was the ending soft? Yes.

 

Good film, could have been better (when compared to other top films I’ve seen this year) = 7/10. I could persuaded to upgrade to 8/10.

I’ve seen three of these, hooping to get to 6/7 before the big day.

Can’t believe “The Two Popes” wasn’t nominated. That’s the big “what!” in my opinion. The three I’ve seen: Ford v. Ferrari, Jojo Rabbit, 1917. Out of those three, Jojo Rabbit was the best film overall. 
 

It should be a four way competition between 1917, Parasite, Joker, and OUATIH.

Still to watch Ford v Ferrari,  Jojo Rabbit,  Little Women and 1917.

 

But overall it seems like a good list, aside from overrated Joker and rather derivative Marriage Story...

Well. I've watched one and hope for 2 more before the Oscars (Jojo Rabbit and The Irishman).

But pretty much the expected list (from what I've read) while other categories were more surprising.

I hope How To Train Your Dragon will finally win best animated feature, it's their last chance

Just in the middle of watching the 2-hour premier of HBO's adaptation of Stephen King's "The Outsider" on Sky Atlantic. I am really liking this so far. Did you get a chance to catch this @Olympian1010 ?

I have it recorded, but I choose to watch the YOG and season 2 of Lost In Space instead today.
