vinipereira 3,061 Posted January 8, 2023 Author #202 Share Posted January 8, 2023 Ireen Wüst SPEED SKATING Regarded as the most successful speed skater ever, Ireen Wüst first achieved a spot in the Dutch Olympic team in 2006. In Turin, she became the youngest Dutch gold medalist at the Winter Games, starting a sequence of results that would made history. Winning at least one gold medal in each of her Winter Olympic appearances, she is the only athlete to win an individual gold medal in five consecutive Olympics, Summer or Winter. Not only she is the most successful athlete from the Netherlands at the Olympics, in Beijing she also became the oldest Speed Skating gold medalist in the history of the Winter Games. "Words can't describe her class", said fellow competitor Brittany Bowe after the 1500m event at the 2022 Olympics; "she is the greatest of all-time, as her performance shows". Indeed, Wüst's career more than earned her a place in our Hall of Fame. @vinipereira phelps, maestro, hckošice and 3 others 3 2

vinipereira 3,061 Posted January 8, 2023 Author #208 Share Posted January 8, 2023 Brian McKeever CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING As far as the Paralympic competitions go, isn't that unusual to see an athlete completely dominating their field, but to keep the level of excellence for two decades is for very few. Canadian cross-country legend Brian McKeever certainly will be remembered among the most dominant names ever to compete at the Winter Paralympics. Starting in Salt Lake 2002 (where he also competed in Biathlon), McKeever went on to win 16 gold medals in his career (20 total), sweeping the three events for visually impaired in four consecutive Paralympics (2010-2022). With his results, he tied the all-time record for most victories by a male at the Winter Games. His achievements, especially at the 2010 home Games, raised the profile of the Winter Paralympics in Canada, proving that his legacy will live on for generations to come. @vinipereira phelps, maestro, hckošice and 1 other
