Rafa Maciel 1,513 Posted July 1, 2023 #491 Share Posted July 1, 2023 UK Athletics manages to sink to a new low! Laura Zialor: Injured high jumper shocked by UK Athletics not paying for operation - BBC Sport OK so Zialor is unlikely to ever trouble an Olympic or a World podium, but she at least showed up to represent her country when asked and was injured on the job. UK athletics should have stepped up and paid for the operation rather than reducing her to begging for help from strangers. Is it any wonder we struggle to keep people involved in athletics when the national federation treats them like this. Josh 7,967 Posted July 1, 2023 #492 Share Posted July 1, 2023 Next up, the Stockholm DL. Here's a look at the entry lists. Could we see a potential WR tomorrow from Duplantis in front of his home crowd?? https://stockholm.diamondleague.com/en/lists-results-stockholm/#baseFrame#__athSchedule#ScheduleInit#Stockholm2023_CURRENTEVENT_JSON
Makedonas 1,941 Posted July 4, 2023 #493 Share Posted July 4, 2023 Pretty big results in the women's pole vault at the U18 Greek Championships this past weekend: 14 yo Ariadni Mirtsiou won with 4.10, 17 yo Evgenia Panagiotou got silver with 4.05, and 15 yo Anastasia Bouboulidi took bronze with 4.00 I don't know any other country that had all three medalists at their U18 National Championships clear 4m, it definitely didn't happen anywhere else this year. Werloc 3,152 Posted July 4, 2023 #494 Share Posted July 4, 2023 Lithuania sending a very very small U23 team consisting of 8 athletes, but two are heavy candidates for gold medals. Mykolas Alekna and Greta Karinauskaitė both have the 1st entry time/result. Tomas Keršulis is good enough for a 400m final. Will be interesting to see if there are improvements from Vaitaitytė in the heptathlon. Sabaitytė and Seikauskas both can achieve a 200m semifinal at best. Klimukaitė and Gailevičius are just statistics in the 100m/110m Hurdles heats.
Monzanator 3,867 Posted July 4, 2023 #495 Share Posted July 4, 2023 Justyna Święty-Ersetić will not compete this season anymore due to Achilles inflammation. It's to be expected she retires after the Paris Olympics IMO. Josh

I have bad feelings that she will not compete in next year too, so, she already can be called semiretired athlete Edited July 4, 2023 by rybak Josh

'Probably going bankrupt after Paris' broke. It's patently clear - look at the U23 squad they're sending, a fair amount of quality, but next to no depth. At some point I forsee an inquiry on where the money has gone; they seem to have made a number of calamitous decisions, and moving into (and hen out of) the Alexander appears to have been disastrous.
