Okay, but that is the majority of sports. I don’t think the Mesopotamians looked at a tree branch and said “I bet I could use this to vault over that bush over there.”

I enjoy most sports. The beauty of multi-sport games is the diversity of the program. I don’t particularly like field hockey or fencing, but don’t think they should be off the sports program because I don’t find them appealing when others do.

I would imagine there’s a significant crossover between WG and OG fans by the way. It was the public that was interested in things like breakdancing and sumo. Those drove tickets sales, with big tickets sports like lacrosse and ultimate frisbee drawing large crowds as well.

If you mean drawing crowds in the US-based World Games? Well, lacrosse is basically unknown in Europe and frisbee is well, a barbecue game. It's the same "problem" why netball is endemic to Australia, everyone else in the world prefers basketball and nobody calls for netball to replace it. The novelty of breakdance will wear out sooner or later, the same way the excitement over slalom in snowboarding (since replaced by the parallels). In 1998 it was the sport of the moment since everyone wanted to watch the novelty but only 20 years later it doesn't move a single needle anymore, even the less bally-hooed moguls remained more popular.

Qiu/Mittelham :GER win gold in mixed doubles table tennis with a 3-0 victory over Ecseki/Madarasz :HUN

:GER earns an Olympic quota, therefore qualifying one male and one female into the individual events.

Maybe they didnt but vaulting nevertheless has fine attribute - you can clearly see who is better. So, this activity has clear sport value. Majority of these new sports havent that value. Doing tricks in breakdancing has only esthetic value, nothing more. But not the value artistic swimming or ice dancing have.

At least, not for me.

Plus, i wouldnt object having BD if, say, IOC kept double trap or 50 km race walk. But evicting those disciplines to have BD...not really.
