Perhaps being harsh but having watched the first couple of days across a few sports, I'm not really getting the sense that this is a major international sporting event or the pinnacle of sporting achievement. Hopefully it picks up in the next few days, but at the moment it's giving off a lot of school sports day kind of vibes.

Kraków actually has a left-wing President from the former communist United Workers' Party. It's the biggest Polish city that still has a former communist as President (though technically he's indepedent).
