Biathlon IBU World Cup 2022 - 2023

What an exciting race compared to the men's pursuit!

I'm gonna be chauvinistic for a bit : first 20/20 for Julia Simon and the victory after starting 16th, Caroline Colombo 20/20 and top 6, her best result ever! Sophie Chauveau 19th despite 3 misses (she had one of the fastest ski times!), so many things to be happy about in this race for this team

It's such a relief and a joy to see Vittozzi back at her best level, too bad she missed the podium in the end :( And Emma Lunder once again in the top 6

Really refreshing to finally have a Lithuanian biathlete that is actually elite level after so many years of wondering if we'll score points this season, now you're expecting points every single race and mass starts a plenty.

Diana Rasimovičiūtė was excellent, but she didn't have the resources that Strolia has right now. One of the biggest what ifs in Lithuanian sports history, because she went toe to toe with Makarainen in her junior years.

Tomas Kaukėnas only really showed up during the majors, which are somewhat easier due to the limited country quotas during the competition.

So Vytautas is pushing Lithuanian biathlon to a place where it never was before and it's a question if things are going to look this good ever again.

Still, happy that after 16 years of following biathlon, I can also enjoy some glory days :p

That was a fun women's race indeed, although my favourites unfortunately didn't do great this time :p

Anyhow, enjoyable fight for the podium places and a fantastic weekend for Emma Lunder!

But there is other good news today. Le Grand Bornand got the green light from the IBU thanks to numerous truckloads of snow from the mountains. Nevertheless, there is still a lot of work ahead of the organizers. Thus, there should be quite a folk festival again, even if it should be a bit more wintry outside :d.
