Popovici is swimming the 400FR here, interesting to see what he can put.

considering his natural speed, if he's in good shape and if he pace himself correctly (and this is a big if...), I'd be surprised if he doesn't go below the 3.45 mark...

Going to be an interesting championships, Meilutytė, Teterevkova, Rapšys and Šidlauskas can contest for medals and top 8.

Navikonis, Sungaila, Pancerevas, Savickas and Grigaitis to round up the Lithuanian team to 9 athletes.

Most of them are here so that Lithuania could run the 4x100 and 4x200m Freestyle relays. It's crazy how the 200 free became the most contested discipline among Lithuanian men, because there are at least 4 more junior level athletes focusing on it, so it could become our primary relay.

Don't know if we're doing 4x100m medley, somebody would have to be forced to do the butterfly, because we didn't send any butterfly specialist to this competition, but Rapšys, Šidlauskas or Pancerevas can do a passable enough butterfly, but repeating a top 8 is still unlikely.

Next European championships we should have even more athletes and a larger women's team, we'll probably be able to run some women's relays as well.

I'll re-update if Lithuania make any changes to our team, since they didn't officially approve it on their webpage.

no Marchand, no Peaty, no Scott...a lot of people not in perfect shape after the recent world champs and/or some sickness...

technically, it won't be the best championship ever, but at least I hope Italy can play a super-dominant role...

How on earth is it possible that we start in all possible relays ? :mumble:

I mean, It is not necessary to meet any qualification criterias or qualification standards for a country to field a relay at the continental championship. I do not know, for example, know how to swim or something like that ?

Here to hope De Waard can medal. Giele or Steenbergen would be nice too.

I'm hoping Steenbergen can win a medal here after her strong world championships with multiple pb's!

    • you don't even have idea how it works   last week he was the best of the field and now he's in bad shape?   on Friday he was 24th despite 4 (4!!!!!) missed shots and Yesterday he suddenly went out of shape?   be serious!   he either just had bad skis or he got sick, like many other athletes (see Vittozzi)   the snow in LGB is usually shit, results are always heavily influenced by that and Italy is one of the teams that usually struggle a lot in that place   nothing new and nothing to be worried about

Since we are approaching the festive holiday season, I want you all to post some festive songs from your country. If you don’t celebrate Christmas then perhaps some other song that has a special place in your heart during an important celebration.     I’m going to start with a Christmas song from Ireland’s TISC Annual 2023 representatives Picture This.     Picture This - This Christmas

    • Juniors were there recently and the track was awful   Although that's not necessarily bad. Tracks don't all need to be fast, a slow track (like the horribly slow one in Poland) simply favors a different style of athletes. Training a lot there doesn't really give much extra advantage though, not like in sliding sports where of course as host country you make sure your athletes know every single meter a year before the Olympics.    And to get back on topic: speed skater Elisa Dul broke her tibia and fibula in a training fall yesterday and will obviously be out of the OQT and so the Olympics.
    • The PSL race in Davos was (yet another) insult to a beautiful discipline. The red course (which was actually yellow) had several holes and an exposed ice sheet, which made the athletes slide way too long, causing DNFs or massive time losses. The only positive note is that Caffont won despite racing on the more dangerous course in the final
