European Cup 2019 (Alytus, LTU)

as expected, :FRA Yohann Diniz dominated the men's 50k...he won with more than 8 min-margin over :BLR Dzmitry Dziubin...3rd was :POR Joao Vieira further 1min40secs behind...

but the most interesting race is the women's 50km, with :ITA Eleonora Giorgi leading from the start with good margin, but now :ESP Julia Takacs has cut down the distance to 1 minute with 3kms to go...and it looks that we're going to have an amazing head to head finish...

Girgi just won with new European Record - 4:04.50

and finally :ITA Eleonora Giorgi proved she was just controlling the race...she did even accelerate over the last couple of kilometers and not only won the event (at the end, she still is 56 seconds ahead of :ESP Julia Takacs, who also set a new PB and NR), but she also set a new European record :cheer: destroying by more than a minute the older European best time, held by :POR Inès Henrique, who ended up 3rd in today's race, almost 4 minutes behind Giorgi...

Edis Matusevičius with a good throw in the Javelin. His result was 84.55, only 23 centimetres shorter than his Lithuanian Record and only 45 centimetres off from an Olympic qualifying throw. Still, with this, he went over 83 metres and qualified for the World Championships.

    • Unfortunate, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm looking forward to Thursday evening, when the team captain's meeting is over and we have our very first World Cup start list of the season. Always a cool moment to see who's there and everything
    • Today I unpacked some of the boxes in which we have put my way too many books to move to our house, and I came across these beauty's I hadn't seen for a while     Absolutely recommended, tough to get for a decent price, but they are such an interesting read with lots of very interesting little stories! Still looking for at least 1900, 1904 and 1906, but not really in the right moment to spend money on that now, so the wait goes on
    • Which I guess is part of why unfortunately 'our' first wild card attempt of the season was rejected last week
