This is the moment Haelen and Schmidhofer are crossing the line. Notice that Schmidhofer is also slightly closer to the finish, as her skies have already partially crossed the lighter line.

Too bad the only timing visible in these pictures is the on screen graphics, so it's rather hard to draw any conclusions from this.

No, it's not...you can verify that for every skier there's at least one tenth delay in the on screen graphics (and this is correct, that's how it works and there's a reason for that)

example: Goggia 1:29.77

except for pretty much all the Swiss for whom they used handtiming (which is well known to produce a faster time)...Haehlen, Gut, etc. were all gifted at least couple of tenths each, there's no doubt about it.

So Hahlen is at least 70 hundreds behind Goggia.... I had the feeling that also Gut time is at least 20 hundreds slower,  good work in Crans Montana for all Swiss skiers.

What I meant is that the only timing visible in the picture is the on-screen graphic of the time. Drawing conclusions would be much more valid if for example on the arch over the finish line there's an official clock or something.

Those graphics are not made by Eurosport or other TVs, they are directly linked to (or we can say part of) the electronic timing system, they are as official as a clock above the finish line.

I mean if the on screen graphics aren't linked to the official timing how would it otherwise be possible that the final time is on screen the moment the skiers cross the line. It's not like the on screen graphic starts more or less when the skier exits the starthouse. Considering that I'd say the onscreen time is a much more accurate messurement than a freakin hand clocked time. And even if the graphic wasn't linked to the official timing, you have a freakin video of the run where you see exactly when the run starts and when it finishes. How hard can it be to messure the time between those two moments.

So the protest most likely will be ignored as the official ruling is that in case of a disfunctional timing the hand clocked time has priority over the tv pictures. This is so ridiculous I'm out of words to describe how shocked I am. If schmidhofer loses the downhill globe by less than 30 points this imo would be one of the biggest alpine skiing scandals ever. What a farce

Polish TV said apparently the snowcat that worked around the finish line damaged the cable that transmitted the data to the official computers :coffee:

With Stuhec injured, it will be either Schmidhofer or Siebenhofer winning the DH globe anyway so I guess Austria gets over this scandal :p
