Doping Cases and Bans Thread (2016 & 2017)

Recommended Posts

in italy one thing is sure......our athlets are tested a lot.but today (schwazer's case apart) a strange and ridicoulos situation:

Inspectors from international athletics governing body IAAF on Wednesday failed in a bid to conduct a surprise doping test on Italian race walker Elisa Rigaudo while she was at the residence of President Sergio Mattarella for a ceremony, ANSA sources said.
The inspectors were refused entry to the presidential Quirinal Palace, where Rigaudo was attending the ceremony for the hand-over of flags to the Italian standard-bearers at the Rio Olympics.
As a result blood and urine tests on Rigaudo, who won bronze in the 20km walk at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, were postponed until she went to an event at the Casa delle Armi facility at the Foro Italico sports complex later on Wednesday, the sources said.

It' s the biggest joke in doping history...11 times the level of testosterone for a 50 km race walker...ah ah ah ah and in the first test the 1st of january he was clean????And in the test he had the 7th or 8th january he was clean again????

Not in this way, they should had given him a lifeban 4 years ago, they should had postponed the come back with a longer ban, i understand that nobody wants him on the podium in Rio, but not in this way.

EPO micro dosing are now detectable and night antidoping tests are authorized under strict circonstances.

Could be a fun Tour :p

have nothing against ofc, but the night test are really a bit too much for me. especialy in a so much demanding sport as cycling is, the riders need have rest during the nights

    • There is a transgender volleyball player here in Brazil; there was even a recent controversy (this year) when a city banned her from playing in a certain competition, which ended up in court, ultimately in her favor.   But the situation is much simpler than that; the reason for this decision is because of the two female boxers who won at Paris 2024 (who apparently are not transgender).

    • there were rumors about it for quite a while, but as I wrote, it was never confirmed so, it might well be just some haters throwing out some shit on her 🤷
    • Where did you get that?   I'm not sure I would have considered her to have dissapeared from out of nowhere, at least since after Tokyo... she did win medals at the next two World Championships. I think it's just recently, she's been struggling with injury which is why she's completely out of form...
    • Even though I'm not the biggest fan of her, always sucks to see a career ending through injury and not on your own terms
    • This is going to have an effect on very likely 0 athletes, possibly 1 or 2 we don't really know about yet. It's really mostly the cheapest possible way for them to make a sort of political statement, without having any significant backlash since it won't really affect anyone at the top level of international sports.   Edit: worded a bit wrong, I was thrown off by everywhere 'trans women' being mentioned as the target of this. Of course there is also the somewhat larger category of DSD and the likes, which will certainly affect a few athletes - unfortunately they are often thrown under the bus or mentioned as 'not really women anyway' or something like that, despite, you know, being.

    • People focus on trans people because it's easier to pinpoint the affected athletes. Meanwhile it's the athletes with (suspected) DSDs that will have tougher time to convince the authorities and the public opinion that they belong to women's sports.
