Doping Cases and Bans Thread (2016 & 2017)

Recommended Posts

Well, well, things are beginning to come out of the shadow. I don't know why they had to wait for both A and B samples to announce it. I guess with the special treatment for Mr. Froome, we should be happy that it was announced at all.

He'll probably get away with "administrative sanction", or however you call those "sanctions" without suspension.

That only took a year or so.

More than that, if I remember correctly they started to investigate Šmigun-Vähi way back in late 2013/early 2014.

I believe the technical term is “slap on the wrist”.

The whole business started in February 2014.

Went to CAS in October 2016.

Ended in December 2017.

I would love to be Smigun's lawyer. Probably got a big house in Barbados out of this :)

One thing not many people know about Froome.

The management of Team Sky absolutely hate him and would like to get rid of him

But Sky TV who sponsor the team love the publicity he gives them...

The IOC has announced that there where no positive tests from the Turin 2006 re-tests, which means :EST Kristina Šmigun-Vähi will not be stripped of her medals.

i just saw a documentary about her this morning on Olympic channel and i was really impressed of her achievements in Turin :d

It's a quite well known fact that more elite athletes have asthma than normal people.

I think it's a national winter sport criteria back in Norway (for cc-skiing and biathlon), or so I've heard rumours :d

By that I mean that nearly all of them claim they suffer from it.

    • Record crowds for this weekend, according to the British Comms so well done  les bouffe-grenouilles!   Jeanmonnot has ice water in her veins, not giving anything away.   Minkinnen up to second!   That' s the win for , second for & a four-way fight for third!   Wierer takes it!   Top  only 12th, dear oh dear.
    • Suspect strongly that the Sultan of  is behind Global Wushu!     Another one is long distance & ultra triathlon.  There are literally millions being paid out in prize money to attract big name athletes from several sports, huge FTA TV coverage but seemingly no prospect of any profit.   And the classic is obstacle racing, which has effectively bought up the ownership of Modern Pentathlon.
    • apparently the Japanese organizers rejected OCA's nice request    now OCA is ordering them to do so in a not-so-nice language https://oca.asia/media/attachments/memberships_subcommittee/5/Decision_-_103rd_OCA_EB_Meeting_5ypY8y4.pdf   the last line is very interesting   I knew this for a while, for example that's why Jujjtsu is included in all of OCA events (despite being the worst sport to watch) but good to see OCA admit this. so with the corrupt OCA you can buy your way in. how much they paid the OCA officials for this ?   OK I know Qatar is financially supporting Padel (and UAE is paying everything for Jujitsu) but who is behind Teqball?  ! I don't think Thailand can do that.
    • Important information on team Aerials.   There is no AIN`s team at the start list of the world cup despite of the fact that belorussians have enough athletes to have a team.   https://medias4.fis-ski.com/pdf/2026/FS/8119/2026FS8119SLF1.pdf
    • By the way. It looks like no AIN`s will be in biathlon by the start of the Olympics. Russians filed an appeal to CAS to get AIN statuses in biathlon. But IBU did not agree to have hearings with short procedure. So the decisons are not expected before the end of qulifying period. (FIS could do the same but its top-officials prefer to help russians be back as quick as possible).   I would like to see Dolidovich at the Games. Because she is a real refugee of the relatively high level.
