Alpine Skiing at the Winter Olympic Games Beijing 2022

Recommended Posts

These are already best Winter Games in history.

Sochi 2014     2-1-5 / 8

Beijing 2022   2-2-2 / 6

So one more silver, and back then it was all on Tina Maze.

If our team wins tomorrow in Ski jumping, these will be the best Games in total.

Tokio 2021    3-1-1 / 5

:SLO felt overdue for a breakthrough Olympics in ski jumping.

Definitively feels like y'all have more depth now than in Sochi.

Actually it is quite the opposite, I am worried that some sports will extinguish, we only have representatives in 6 sports in Beijing, which is the least after Lillehammer 1994, and even here Nordic Combined almost does not exist, and in other sports we depend almost exclusively on individuals, who are training outside of national program.

Ski jumping is the only bright example, other than that we could well end up without a medal or with 1 or 2 in Cortina in four years time.

I agree, you aren't world class in any snowboarding events anymore (you used to be good in men's halfpipe) and women's cross-country skiing used to be better too. This olympics was obviously a huge fluke and 4 medals would have been a realistic expectation for Slovenia. On the other hand you could become really good in biathlon (and maybe nordic combined), which would be a complete gamechanger. If you keep your strength in ski jumping and become good in biathlon, you could regularly go for 10+ medals.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

Joan Verdu's 9th place ties best ever Olympic result for :AND

They had three 9th places in SOG before (boxing 1976, cycling 1988, judo 2012). Previous best at WOG was 18th (Mireia Gutierrez, combined 2014).

Yeah, :PRK Kim was better in Pyeongchang than :JAM Alexander here.

Officially he is the worst skiing tourist seen at the Olympics since Albertville 1992 (when there were no qualification standards).

I don’t know, Jamaican guy has had some good coaching. He remembered to get back into the tuck position for the last turn.

From what the skiers are saying the conditions after the TV break became worse, especially in the upper half. It was harder to see due to the fog. Odermatt deserves his gold, best skier this season, Kranjec finally with a medal from the OG or worlds!

Irish guy in 31 almost hit a track worker!

All top names chose numbers in the teens for women's DH (#13 Goggia, #15 Suter, #17 Weidle & #19 Gut-Behrami). Shiffrin #12 has decided to start too.

    • Despite total domination by the Norwegian men (and yes, it's exhausting and boring), the accomplishments this weekend of Emil Iversen and Einar Hedegart are worth highlighting, despite them being Norwegian.    Iversen was dropped by the Norwegian national team after the opener in Beitostølen 2 weeks ago and was not taken to Ruka. Instead, he won both the 10k and 20k Interval Classic starts in Gålå in the Norwegian Cup last week, which granted him a spot on the start line in Trondheim. He took full advantage of that opportunity and finished on the podium in the skiathlon, and finished just off the podium in today's 10k Interval Freestyle. This definitely puts his name in serious contention for a spot on the Olympic team, which looked incredibly doubtful just a few days ago.    Einar Hedegart, the 24-year-old biathlete who decided to challenge the stereotype that biathletes are inferior skiers to their cross-country counterparts, just won the 10k Interval Start against all of Norway's best in a de facto Olympic trial.    Yes, it's exhausting seeing nothing but Norwegian flags on the men's side, but there can be excitement just beneath the surface at times.
