Can't believe that the soap opera is still going on. His reportedly neutralization process remains unclear. It's still possible that he go back to Korea or trying to represent China but rejected by Korea (only in OG).

France just won its first ever World Junior medal!

Hungary looks like they are continuing their push in the sport without the Liu brothers.

Florence Brunelle of Canada, triple World Junior Champion.

That's surprising

Some descent results from our team with a bunch of B finals (and one A final). Nothing great, but much better that what we saw at Beijing (not a single semi-final)

Interesting that Korea sweeps both the 1000m and 1500m podiums on the mens side, but in the relay they finished third in the B final. I don't see any penalties or big time differences that indicate a fall in the results.

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
