In fairness, at least Mayer was just added to the field. Nobody has really lost out there. The heptathlon issue is far worse, because of the knock on effect on Sweden and Austria. Not to mention the French athletes who've missed out because their own federation is incompetent. Just a mess all round.

There were few countries which didn’t withdraw their athletes in time , another example is Germany in several disciplines. It’s just taking away the chance from someone who was hoping to participate. I wish the same thing happens to those countries , especially France and Germany in Road to Paris. actually EAA needs to think about how to punish those federations, money will not do. But let’s say start with -10 points per missed withdrawal at next Team championship.

So many stories that make me very glad people are allowed to choose to end their suffering, instead of spending weeks, months or even years longer in mental and/or physical hell just because someone else decided they have to.
