  1. HEEEELLLL YEAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! Bronze medal!!!!!!! WE HAVE A MEDAL!!!!! For all you that are from countries that usually get a lot of medals, this sounds like overreaction, but Portugal had 23 medals in 23 olympic editions (previous to Rio), so you can do the math and see how much a medal means for my nation!!! Our social media is going crazy!!! And it's Telma, who's a 5 time EC and always missed the medals on Olympics, so she was the one everyone was really cheering, she totally deserve this!!!! My medal's goal is achieved, from now on it will be (an amazing) bonus!

  2. Exactly. We are so used to having "dressage" competition these days while in reality eventing should be 1) cross-country 2) dressage 3) jumping One of the greats of eventing Ian Stark said that this course was about riding, and clearly it was.

  4. As much as I like Totallympics, is a little hard to have time to visit this forum with all of the things the Olympic Games has to offer (for instance, is 3AM here now, and I'm only knowing about some medalists now - congrats Argentina!). But I plan to share some things about about my experiences, so here's a little bit of what happened this weekend. I arrived in Rio at Saturday morning and soon after lunch I went to the Deodoro Olympic Park, which takes forever from the apartment I'm at. For instance, from the first Deodoro access to the Shooting Center, you have to walk for about 30 minutes. Fortunately, I arrived at the venue few minutes before the 10m Air Pistol medal, which gave Brazil the first medal of these Olympic Games. It was an absolutely amazing moment and it was great to be there. Felipe Wu Soon after, I went to the Field Hockey Center with tickets for a session that brought two exciting matches. First one was Argentina vs USA in Women's. There was fans from both teams, but I have to say that argentines really "invaded" Rio, they're everywhere! Very passionate fans, even in defeat. Next match was the first ever Brazilian Hockey men's team match in the history of Olympics and man... they're just not good. That didn't stop the brazilian fans (me included), that cheered every defense of our guys In the return for home at the train, argentine fans singing all the way - some healthy rivalry with brazilians, all in good fun. Saturday was a great first day but incredibly tiresome (as I have predicted), so on Sunday I slept a little more than I should. I had tickets for Tennis in the Olympic Park starting at 10AM, but I went only after lunch. Park is huge (as one may expect) and you have a lot to do there beside the sport events. I had no idea about the schedule so it was surprising that, by the end of the day, I had seen matches of three Tennis super stars (an two of them lost). First match was Nadal vs Delbonis, dominance from the spanish. After that it was time for Teliana Pereira but I decided to see what was happening in the secondary courts and went to the Makarova vs Buyukakcay match because I like the russian, but somehow I ended up rooting for the turkish like pretty much everyone, including her coach beside us. After Makarova's win, I went back to Court 1 and Pereira already had lost For the night, two Doubles matches. First the Williams sisters vs Safarova/Strycova. Ecstatic to see Serena (again, I had no idea about the schedule). Lots of czech coaches/athletes (? - they were wearing the official uniforms), that were very happy with their win. Ready to go home, I hear there was going to be another Doubles match, now with Bellucci/Sá vs the Murrays. Aside from the Shooting medal, this was probably my favourite moment so far. Amazing atmosphere in the arena, brazilian joy. Transportation/access perfect, much easier than Deodoro - for which I will return this Monday afternoon for Basketball/Rugby competitions.

  7. There was a heavy presence of fans from both teams, I was surprised (plus some americans from the previous match). In the end, I think most people were amazed by how Canada managed to win this match. Soon after, canadian fans went to Rugby finals nearby (I was there too). Overall, a incredible day for these fans

  9. No, you don't realize that this outcome was nothing extraordinary in terms of mistakes. Olympics are 4* level competition and in such competitions (like Badminton or Burghley) almost half of competitors get eliminated quite often. Also it happens at championships: at 2014 WEG 28/91 didn't finish. At 2015 Europeans 20/60 didn't finish. You notice only when Germany makes mistakes? Wanting cross-country with no refusals is almost like wanting jumping with no fences down. I'll stop with this "discussion" now as I have better things to do

  17. Not only so far, it was our safest gold medal. In the end i dont really care anymore, those doping games have become wortheless for me, no one can take any of the results seriously anymore. Organizers wanted to do something special and destroyed the competition with it. All those athletes worked so hard for multiple years just to end up in a lottery competition, where it clearly isnt about ability anymore but only about luck. At least 3 of the german athletes won gold before and will probably win gold again in 2020, so i think they will get over it.

  20. Yes, I agree. Let's keep Olympics to european nations, USA and (maybe) Australia, clearly the only civilized countries in the world.

  22. This event isn't fair for the athletes. You can't have one race where it is flat, the next it is choppy and un-raceable. It isn't hard to develop a venue that gives every athlete a chance. This Olympics has been a fiasco unfortunately, it better be the last time we schedule an Olympics in this area.

  27. Day 3 Finals Diving - Men's Synchronised 10m Platform Tom Daley Daniel Goodfellow I don't see them on the podium, there are other strong duos. 4th-5th would be good. Fencing - Women's Individual Sabre no British participation Gymnastics (Artistic) - Men's Team All-Around Brinn Bevan Louis Smith Kristian Thomas Max Whitlock Nile Wilson Things have to go perfect for a medal although they are not chanceless. Judo - Women's -57kg Nekoda Smythe-Davis Filzmoser , Pavia and Matsumoto in her draw so no chance. Judo - Men's -73kg no British participation Rugby Sevens - Women's Tournament National Team Very strong field, everything is possible from final to 4th. I'm hoping for a medal here after they beat Canada in the group stage. Shooting - Men's 10m Air Rifle no British participation Shooting - Men's Trap Edward Ling Currently in 2nd position but it's a long way to go. He should make it into the final if he keeps calm but you can't predict shooting. Swimming - Women's 100m Breaststroke no British participation Swimming - Women's 100m Backstroke no British participation Swimming - Men's 200m Freestyle James Guy Hasn't been impressive so far so he might end up without medal. On paper he should have a chance for gold even but I think silver would be a good result. Swimming - Men's 100m Backstroke no British participation Weightlifting - Women's -58kg no British participation Weightlifting - Men's -62kg no British participation optimistic shot on medals 4 reasonable shot on medals 2

  30. Your team reminds me of Great Britain in 2008 as a swimming team. They didn't win a lot (Rebbecca Adlington being the one that did) but what they did is they went young. They took a long term approach. You will be better in Japan in 2020. Also if you follow the juniors you have a few elite under 16/17 year olds coming through who are ranked in the top couple.

  34. It's also not a fact, it's "scoreboard journalism"...looking at stats and stats only. Of course there's no road cyclist or weightlifter or something who has 19 gold medals.. Most medals winning Olympian obviously, but greatest? I very much disagree on that.
